: Challenging authority and power brought us America, but today many feel it is un-American. Democracy hinges on voters expressing their will, but today many are left out of the process by deliberate design. The media used to be the intermediate between the people and their elected officials, but today, in exchange for access to DC and in service to corporate interests, the media is used to manufacture our consent to having our comm...unities and livelihoods pillaged. In other words, the very things that keep power in check, are discouraged, thwarted, and corrupted in a country born out of the then radical idea of spreading of power. But there are lights among us, there are those who will fight on behalf of the very people who are conditioned to despise the fighter’s cause. There is still empathy, integrity, and courage out there, and at any point, we are all free to choose to be a light. That’s why, even in this dark time of division and bondage, this is still the United States of America. Let’s keep fighting the good fight . What’s in a frame? Today’s discussion surrounds not only what we include in a frame, but what we exclude and *why*. When it comes to marketing actors, photography is a visual language, and your photographer is your translator; You tell him or her what you want communicated to casting in an instant, and a good photographer should be able to craft an image that makes you an unmistakeable candidate for the roles for which you are right. Depending on your goals, photographing fro...m slightly below your eye-line could be a great choice, or a poor one. Black wardrobe could be ideal, or pink. @anthienphan set out to capture the younger side of her age range with a gritty edge (ala @euphoria), and the older side of her age range with a classic, timeless, general theatrical sophistication. Black aged her up while suggesting sophistication and timelessness, pink aged her down while suggesting reliance/youth. Photographing her from slightly below her eye line gave her agency, and photographing her from slightly above her eye line took agency away. The best way to maximize your chance of getting cast is to set yourself up to get noticed and called in. And the best way to do that is to be deliberate about your choices during any headshot session. There is no element in your headshot that doesn’t speak, so make sure they all tell the TRUTH.
