It's the summer travel season as schools are out or nearing the end of classes. There has been a lot written about traveling with a child with special needs, and we like this guidance from mom and autism advocate Lisa Jo Rudy in Verywell Family: https://www.verywellfamily.com/vacation-with-special-needs-. Share your tips in the comments or tell us if you have any travel plans this summer!

Two-year-old Cass has agenesis of the corpus callosum, is completely blind, has seizures, and has severe heat intolerance. One of his biggest challenges is the heat intolerance and the inability to go into the world because his body temperature cannot be regulated. Cass received a battery-powered ice therapy system through Olam’s Piggybank Grant Program, and the results have been life changing for the family. Keep having fun Cass! We have extended the deadline to apply for a summer grant until Friday, June 4. For the application and information on eligible and non-eligible items, click here: https://nodcc.org/resources/grants/

We celebrate moms this weekend! Our organization was created thanks to the moms and women who persistently pursued information to help their children and many others. Two of those women a mother and a researcher are featured in this founding story video. We appreciate the moms who got us here and the many moms who continue to help others on their journeys. #mom #mothersday2021 #specialneedsmom #livingwithdcc #NODCC https://youtu.be/E86jsy-bMwk

On the blog, parent and writer John Will shares a piece that many parents who receive an unexpected diagnosis for a child will be able to relate to. It's also a good reminder to find the inspiration in the little things. #livingwithdcc #specialneeds #diagnosis #parenting https://nodcc.org/conversations-in-parenting/
