Here are four tips for conversing with young children: 1. Practice patience. Children can be repetitive and illogical but doing your best to understand and listen will pay off. 2. Don't give up when you don't understand. Ask questions and if there really is no sense in what they are saying, your attention is still valuable. 3. Try repeating back to them what they are saying. For example, if your child says "then I went to the park." You could say, "oh you went to the pa...rk?" This shows you are paying attention and helps keep the conversation going. 4. Even when it is hard to understand a child it is important to remain calm and gentle in your tone of voice. #coparenting #family #parenting #blendedfamily #divorce #love #stepmom #singlemom #kids #coparentingdoneright #blendedfamilies #bonusmom #singledad #stepdad #momlife #children #divorcedmom #families #life #coparents #modernfamily #motherhood #communication #coparent #divorcesupport #lifeafterdivorce #stepmomlife #coparentinglife #divorcecoach See more

"I like to think of motherhood as a great big adventure. You set off on a journey, you don’t really know how to navigate things, and you don’t exactly know where you’re going or how you’re going to get there." - Cynthia Rowley
