If you are thinking we were twiddling our thumbs during the pandemic... well you are so wrong :) During the pandemic, we, at NMSA, spent quite some time norming, brainstorming, and transforming about how to restart when things open up. One of the results of this NBT exercise is relaunch of our website www.niles.org. You will notice that we dusted the cobwebs away, gave it a fresh coat of paint and rearranged the furniture to make it look new, exciting and as beautiful as our... town. So go ahead check it out and sign up for the newsletter, because things are getting back to normal and EVENTS ARE COMING BACK!!!!! We will soon be announcing the details on the 57th Annual Niles Antique Faire and Flea Market, and The Car Show. So if you want to be in the know, sign up for the newsletter and follow us on FB and IG. We will continue to add more content to our website, including community comments, pictures and more. Stay tuned!! Meanwhile, let us know in the comments what you think of the new website and share your ideas about new content that can be added #fremontca #nilesca #nilesantiquefaire #nilescarshow #nmsa #nilesmainstreet

Today is the 27th anniversary of Niles Congregational Church (one of our predecessor congregations) becoming an Open and Affirming congregation. "Open and Affir...ming" is the term used in both the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to designate a congregation as being welcoming LGBTQ+ people into the full life and leadership of a congregation. Coincidentally, today is also the 16th anniversary of Pastor Jeff Spencer being installed as Pastor of Niles Congregational Church. It's pretty typical for an installation (the official liturgy) to take place several months after a ministry begins. Pastor Jeff's ministry at Niles Congregational Church (now Niles Discovery Church) started on February 1, 2005.

City of Fremont, CA Ranked #10 Best City to Work From Home in US Since COVID-19, remote work has become the norm for many Americans. In late spring of 2020, a...bout 50% American workers were working from home, according to two surveys conducted by the National Bureau of Economic Research. Many researchers believe that increased work flexibility & work-from-home opportunities may continue even after the pandemic is over. With that in mind, SmartAsset.com looked at the BEST cities to work from home in the US for 2021. To determine their rankings, they compared 100 of the largest U.S. cities across seven metrics; spanning work-from-home flexibility prior to and during COVID-19, along with employment opportunities, poverty rates & housing affordability. For California - 3 cities ranked in top 35 for US (Irvine #17 & San Francisco #29) Key Notables for Fremont: * Based on the occupational breakdown of workers, upwards of 35% of Fremont’s workforce could work from home if necessary a top-10 rating * Apartments & homes in Fremont generally have space for working from home; United States Census Bureau data shows that 87.7% of residences in Fremont have 2+ bedrooms (13th-highest percentage for cities in the study) #bestcities #covid19economy #remotework Study at: https://smartasset.com/c/best-cities-to-work-from-home-2020 Vice Mayor Jenny Kassan, Council members Teresa Cox, Teresa Keng, Yang Shao, Rick Jones,Raj Salwan, Fremont Economic Development; Fremont Police; Fremont Fire; Fremont Chamber of Commerce; Fremont USD; Centerville Business & Community Association; Mission San Jose Chamber of Commerce; Irvington Business Association; Niles Merchants Association; Niles Main Street Association; Alameda County Offices Board of Supervisors David Haubert & Richard Valle; Rep.
