Just a few spots left in my group: The Conscious Mom Reset. Please share with anyone who you think might be interested. As a mom it is SO hard to find the time, energy, and perspective to look at the big picture of your own life. You know that certain things could be better, but what? But how? And when? Check out The Conscious Mom Reset group and join other moms in the quest for clarity and fulfillment.

Wondering what exactly is happening when a new mom feels joyful and then crazy and then sad and then joyful again? All in the span of a couple hours? This is your brain on baby. Check out this great article from The Atlantic that really breaks down the science of the mama brain. There's a method to that hormonal madness, and it's fascinating! https://www.theatlantic.com//what-happens-to-a-wom/384179/

Are you a little (or a lot) overwhelmed by recent national news and events? Feeling worried or fearful for what these changes might mean for you or your loved ones? This is your friendly reminder from a therapist to work some self-care into that to-do list. Don’t underestimate the effects that this upheaval can have on your body and psyche. Are you noticing that you’re a little more sensitive lately? Maybe finding that typical responsibilities feel harder than usual? Not sle...eping so well? Research in neuroscience shows that our own personal nervous systems can be negatively influenced by threats, perceived or real, not just to ourselves but to our fellow human beings. Even slightly elevated stress hormone levels can translate to a decrease in mental and physical wellbeing. The good news is that our nervous systems can also be POSITIVELY influenced by the wellbeing of others. Want to make a difference? Treat yourself well. Take time to do more of what makes you feel happy, healthy, and grounded. Your body will thank you and your efforts will have a ripple effect. Stronger together, indeed. (Feel free to share if you know someone who could use a reminder!)

As a therapist who works frequently with new parents, my clients and I look at the seemingly unending list of changes they face. The strong emotions and shifting thought patterns come in waves both gentle and fierce! From a holistic perspective, I find it so important to look at this process with a whole person approach. This article from The Greater Good Science Center does a wonderful job describing 10 big changes --biological, emotional, psychological-- that new parents face. Enjoy! http://greatergood.berkeley.edu//ten_changes_new_parents_f#
