Favorite quote from a client this week "Nick beside my wedding day, this has been the funnest day of my life!"

O.K. Travelers... its getting close to the "golden time" to visit Wine Country. Each time of year has something special going on (in the vineyard and at the winery). We are approaching harvest and "crush," a great time to learn about the wine making process and get a bit deeper into the winery experience. We are just getting thru "verasion, when the grapes go into their color change, a signal that harvest is weeks away. This is the time of year when we can go into th...e vineyards to taste the fruit (actually encouraged) learning in one bite where many of those great flavors actually come from (from the flavor of the grape, go figure). A real eye opener if you’ve never tasted a ripe wine grape. With that and the actual workers beginning to pick the grapes, a lot going on in the vineyard. It is also the time of year when the wineries are "clearing the decks, opening up space in the cellar, prepping the machines and testing new barrels before first use. Winemakers are generally prepping (after their pre-harvest vacations) for the first grapes to come in. This is a great time to visit as harvest begins. A chance to see the grapes turned into wine, right before our eyes. As with most things, once you actually see it happening (smell, touch!) you get that ah ha moment, and you understand that bottle of wine a lot more, and perhaps appreciate it on a whole new level. I would encourage anyone thinking of a trip into wine country to go during this exciting time. And please, if you have ANY questions about grapes, wine, Wine Country or travel, please feel free to contact me, (here or elsewhere) and ASK AWAY. See more
