BIBLE MEDITATION Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season, Convince, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching (2 Timothy 4:2 )... DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT Something that really bothers me is to go to church and hear someone stand up and preach without an open Bible. Or maybe he will quote a text and close the Bible and then make a speech. What we need to do is to read the book and study it. Let me tell you what I think preaching the Word of God is. I think it is taking a passage of Scripture, reading that passage, analyzing it, organizing it, illustrating it, and applying it. I believe there's a famine in the land today for that kind of preaching, where people can understand the Bible. That’s the kind of preaching that will ultimately build great Christians. ACTION POINT When you heed the Word of God, it’s going to produce three things: First, sorrow. Then joy. And then obedience. Just obey the Word of God.

BIBLE MEDITATION While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18 )... DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT A man may say, It’s hard for me to have faithI deal in reality. So, what is real? Your house? Your car? Your money? No, reality is not in something you can see, taste, touch, smell, or feel. Those things are not real because they are not lasting. Reality is in God. If you’re putting your trust in things you can see, touch, and count, you’re living in a world of illusion. The things that are seen are temporal; the things that are not seen are eternal. The only real things are those things that will last eternally. ACTION POINT When we put God first, then we will come in contact with reality. Are you putting Him first? Is He more real to you than things that seem so rock solid? Look up Matthew 6:33 in your Bible and commit to living by seeking His kingdom first.

BIBLE MEDITATION: Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19 DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Have you ever thought about the Great Commission as being a mission impossible? But it isn’t, because of what comes with the mission.... You see, Jesus said that all power, authority, and dominion is given unto Him in heaven and earth (see Matthew 28:18-20). Dominion was first given to man, but man gave it over to the devil in the Garden of Eden. Jesus received it back from the Father and gave that authority to each of us. ACTION POINT: Does Jesus have authority over the devil? Yes! Then so do you. Does Jesus have the victory? Yes! Then you have the victory. Is Jesus Christ enthroned? Yes! (See Ephesians 1:20) Then you are enthroned. We are seated with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). The victory is yours through Jesus Christ.

BIBLE MEDITATION When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice. But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. (Proverbs 29:2) DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT... Today in the US is an important election day. I trust every one of you will vote. Are you praying over your vote? Dr. Francis Schaeffer, a brilliant man, one of the foremost Christian thinkers of our time, gave us 5 principles to keep in mind when we vote. These have nothing to do with personalities or political parties. The principles guiding our vote should be: The dignity of human life The importance of the traditional family Religious freedom of speech in schools, both public and private Human rights and the need for justice in our world The compassionate use of accumulated wealth These five ought to be in the heart and mind of every child of God. Pray over these. Then, based on God’s Word, make your determination. God will give you wisdom. ACTION POINT Pray it from your heart, God, bless America, and God, give us space to repent. And may the ones of Your choosing be elected to lead us. Remember, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin (James 4:17).

BIBLE MEDITATION Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin." (James 4:17) DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT... It’s not a Bible proverb, but there’s a wonderful proverb that says, If the gold rusts, what shall the iron do? Meaning, if those in leadership don’t lead rightly, what’s going to happen to the rest of us? What does the Bible say about national leadership? Proverbs 29 makes it clear: leadership should lead by setting a godly example. The Bible repeatedly warns us that our leaders should be uprightand what the consequences will be if they aren’t. Daniel confessed, O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all those around us. (Daniel 9:16) Jesus said, Render to God the things that are God’s. But He also said, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s. Our Caesar is a government of, by, and for the people. The very genius of our government is that the people participate. None other than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself teaches us to participate in government. (Matthew 22:21) ACTION POINT Under our Constitution, the government answers to the people. It’s unthinkable that Almighty God would ordain government, then have His people stay out of it. Who would that leave, then, to influence and lead? If you do not vote, you’ve disobeyed God’s plan for His people to be involved. Get informed. Know where each candidate stands on the issue of protecting life and His design for marriage. Then prayerfully cast your vote for those most closely aligned with God’s principles for life and godliness in a nation.

BIBLE MEDITATION And Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.’ And they marveled at Him. (Mark 12:17) DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT... A reporter asked a pedestrian, Can you tell me the two biggest problems in America? The man said, I don’t know, and I don’t care. The reporter replied, You named them both. Ignorance and apathy! These are days when we cannot afford to be ignorant and certainly not apathetic. Soon, Americans are going to make one of the weightiest decisions we can make. We’re going to elect someone to the highest office in our land. And how important it is for followers of Christ to seek the heart, the mind, and the will of God about this and all elected offices! ACTION POINT I’m going to tell you how to vote: Go into the booth, pull the curtain, and press the lever. That’s how to do it. I’m not going to tell you who to vote for. Stop looking around and wondering what everybody else is going to do. Draw a circle on the floor, get inside that circle, and say, God, start a revival in this circle. May God help us to be Christian citizens. Father, stir our hearts, I pray. And Lord, deliver us from both apathy and ignorance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

BIBLE MEDITATION You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4) DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT... Many years ago, international chess master Paul Morphy was taking a tour of Europe. He and a friend entered an art gallery. Morphy was drawn to The Chess Players by Moritz Retzsch, a painting depicting two figures playing chess: Satan himself and a young man. They were playing for the young man’s soul. Satan has just moved into position for checkmate. It’s obvious now the young man has no way of escape. Pale with fear, he realizes the devil has outwitted him. All is lost. There’s no move he can make. Morphy stood intently studying the chessboard. His friend moved on. After a while, Morphy exclaimed, Young man, there’s one move you can make! Morphy ran to his friend, shouting I’ve found it! All is not lost! I don’t know much about chess, but I know a lot about the Word of God, and I know what that one move is. Don’t you? To receive Jesus. In the warfare between Hell and Heaven, a little chorus says this about the Lord Jesus: He signed the deed with His atoning blood. He ever lives to make His promise good. Should all the hosts of Hell march in to make a second claim, They’ll all march out at the mention of His name! His name is Jesus. ACTION POINT At a time when so much attention is given to Satan and his minions, understand this: Satan is a defeated foe. His kingdom is crushed. He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. The Son of God will make you free indeed (John 8:36). Receive Christ. There is no other way.

BIBLE MEDITATION Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8)... DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT There’s nothing in life outside the reach of prayer. If it concerns you, it concerns God. We sometimes try to divide life into the secular and the sacred, saying This is the sacred. We’ll pray about this. But this is the secular. I’ll handle it myself. But for the child of God, everything that concerns us concerns Him. Many years ago when Dr. Charles Stanley was the new pastor of First Baptist Church, Atlanta, the deacons and finance committee were holding a meeting. The church had been through some turmoil, and they came to a halt over a financial problem. Charles said to those around the table, Men, let’s pray. One of them answered, Preacher, this is business. We don’t need to pray about this. Can you imagine Jesus Christ dividing His life into the sacred and the secular? Of course not. We don’t divide our lives into the secular and the sacred. So what do we pray about? Everything. You ask, Can I pray about small things? A parking space? That’s silly, that’s too small. Can you think of anything too big or too small to God? There’s nothing big to God. Things aren’t either big or small to Him. The biggest thing you can think of is small to God, and the smallest thing is important to God if it’s important to you. But in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 4:6). ACTION POINT You may ask, Suppose there’s something I want, and I know it’s not God’s will. Should I pray about that? Absolutely. Pray: Lord, there’s something wrong with me. I want something You don’t want. Fix my want-er. Tell God about it. He already knows what you’re thinking anyway.
