A new study from our friends at TNTP and Zearn has big implications for helping students recover unfinished learning from the past year. Using data from 100,000 elementary school classrooms, they found that students learn more and struggle less with learning accelerationprioritizing access to grade-level workcompared to traditional remediation. And they found that learning acceleration was especially effective for students of color and those from low-income families. Put simply, the data provides strong evidence that learning acceleration works, and that it could be key to unwinding generations-old academic inequities the COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated.
