"Not everyone wants to compete, race, or push themselves to constantly grow. I have nothing to prove to anyone but myself." Heather Wallace of The Timid Rider s...hares a blog that will have a lot of relevance for those who feel they have to move up a level because that is what everyone around them wants to do, or even that they have to compete at all. Leo might have a new gig as a rock star. He was a bit suspicious when I first walked up with a guitar. I can’t blame him, I haven’t played since elementary school. I’d be suspicious of those noises, too. A couple edamame later he changed his tune #haflinger #horse #horsetraining #music

The issue of turnout, and potential injuries, has been making headlines lately. Here is a great study on the topic. Follow up studies might include controlling for horse size, gender, and age, as well as exploring the shape of turnouts (such as squares, rectangles, and track systems) and the prevalence of resources, novel objects, shelter, and internal barriers.
I love them all, whether I own them or not, but there are a few that capture your heart!
The owners "are donating the race's $10,000 purse to the Breonna Taylor Foundation, a nonprofit the Taylor family formed in 2020."
I’m still getting used to Demi coming to greet me every time I walk out I don’t usually bring snacks into turnout, and being caught means either working or go...ing back to her stall. Even so, she’s consistently curious and interested in whatever I’m doing, even when she has the option to run the other way. Seems like I’m doing something right! (Haffie Leo photobombing behind)
This is very cool! I have a solar charger I take with me on camping trips (and planes, once upon a time), but there was no good way to have it take in sun while riding- it’s about the size and weight of a short brick. This panel has a nice big surface, but looks lightweight. And no glare! Solar power collection has come such a long way!
You're not racist. You are confused, uncomfortable and never quite sure what to say when someone makes a comment around you. You understand that we all have bia...s but you aren't entirely sure where yours lie. You want to do more antiracist work and advocacy but you aren't sure you'd be welcome. You're disappointed that there aren't more BIPOC in the animal sport world and you wish the picture looked different. You want to learn and are ready to grow. Join our small seminar Tuesday April 20 to explore these issues and more together in a safe, and gentle space that will empower you to be an advocate and supporter. Together we are stronger! (and please by all means share this!) https://heartequineacademycourses.com/courses/175/about
These are beautiful! Fence Line Studio also made the new logo for the Equine History Collective
Maryland folks!
Has anyone else done this? We're a few sessions in and I'm really pleased with the progress. Just preemptively wondering what issues other people may have had and how to stop/correct them? Having fun experimenting with what we can do !
"With time, memory fades and legends are made." Amazing post on some of the excellent work happening at the NSLM.
Animal cloning? It sounds like sci-fi, but it might be the answer to help protect the future of rare breeds. In British Breeding Futurity's free webinar, Geneti...c Preservation & Animal Cloning, host Tullis Matson of Stallion AI Services will go over just that. Joined by representatives from Gemini Genetics & ViaGen Pets, attendees will learn the process of submitting samples for genetic preservation and their applications. Viewers will also receive behind-the-scenes access to world-leading facilities and learn everything from companion animal cloning to endangered species regeneration. The webinar will take place Jan. 28, 2:00 PM EST. More information and how to sign can be found on their website: https://us02web.zoom.us//register/WN_Ym3w6a9pTYeORZEBbJ8B1Q

There’s a simple banner that’s hung from an overpass on the 580-W in Oakland, California that reads KING’S DREAM LIVES. It is true, but we are also aware that f...reedom is a struggle. We have a responsibility as equestrians for social change to Pony Express Dr. King’s message by supporting efforts that allow our kids to dream big and access positive futures through horses. Our non-profit has been busy working on programs that bring horses into the community where they are needed most during these pandemic times. We’ll be supporting local food security initiatives and performing outreach for when Bay Area COVID cases are low enough to resume our riding program. As our horses’ home, ranch operations are constantly in motion. Brianna and the horses will be at The East Oakland Collective and Homies Empowerment on February 2 to share some horse joy with the families. In addition, with the help of our dedicated team, we’re creating programming with a collective of equestrian professionals who will mentor and train students that graduate from our Level One program and desire to pursue more advanced training in a variety of equestrian disciplines. It aligns with our mission to change the face of equestrian culture by opening up opportunities for young riders from marginalized communities. The work continues and so does your support, so we thank you! To donate today, please visit https://www.mulattomeadows.com/humble-get-involved. Do continue to follow us (and share) for more changemaking updates with our programs. Happy Dr. King Day!
I didn’t think I could love my Ariats more. I was wrong.
If you were a fan of Four Oaks Arabians's Mohummed Kazam, check this guy out!
Maryland folks, check this out!
Abdiel stole my spot, but scratch made cocoa in my new mug was worth it. Whether you have holidays to celebrate this week, or are just catching your breath for a moment, I hope you all can find some catlike relaxation.
