Parents here is an arts and crafts idea to share with your kids! Talk About David and Goliath Take a few minutes to discuss the Bible story of David defeating the Philistine giant with the kids. It lends itself to a variety of life lessons such as ‘You don’t have to be big to accomplish great things,’ ‘God uses young people, too,’ and ‘God will help you defeat the giants you face.’... Prepare the Five Stones To create the Five Stones crafts project for preschool children, the following items are needed: David & Goliath Pouch Washable paint Paintbrushes Small round stones (five per child) Newspaper Painting smocks 1. Take the children outside to gather their own stones. Have each child select five small round stones. 2. Wash off any debris on the stones and allow them to dry while the painting area is being set up. 3. Spread out newspaper on the work surface and help the children into their painting smocks. 4. Allow the kids to paint the tops and sides of the stones with any color or design they choose. Encourage them to use their creativity to decorate unique stones. 5. Place the stones in a safe place to dry and have the children move on to create the carrying pouch craft. Parent Preparation for the Pouch Craft To prepare for the crafts project ahead of time, pre-cut an 8-inch circle out of lightweight felt (brown or black) for each child. Use a hole punch to cut out eight evenly spaced holes around the circumference of each circle. Punch the holes about of an inch from the edge. Also, cut a piece of string approximately 2’ long for each pouch. How to Make the Pouch Craft To create this David and Goliath craft for preschool children, the following items are needed: Making the Pouch 1 Circle (8) of brown or black felt (or old clothing material that you no longer use) 2 strands of yarn or lacing (approximately 16 long) (or old string or shoelaces) 5 Small, round stones (find rocks or other similar objects outstide) Washable paint Newspaper (old ads, papers etc) 1. Lay the circle flat and show the child how to weave a piece of string into the first hole. Continue the process of weaving in and out all the way around the circle until the two sections meet. 2nd Step 2. Help the child repeat the same process with the other piece of string. Start from the opposite side of the circle and weave back into the same holes again. 3. Tie the ends of each side together to form a draw string. 4. Once the five stones are decorated and dry, place them in the center of the pouch and pull the strings to close it.

A David’s Relay Race Game Idea (for use in a lesson plan) Play the game: When David went to fight the giant, people tried to be helpful. The king gave him some armor to help protect him. It was way too big and heavy for David. David chose to wear God’s armor instead. King Saul sent him off saying, May the Lord go with you.... David was not afraid. He said to Goliath, You come to me with a sword and a shield. But I come in the name of the Lord. You have spoken against Him, but God is going to give you to me. Then everyone will know there is a God in Israel! Divide the kids into teams (have 3-4 kids in each team) Draw numbers out of a hat (1,2,1,2have the same # of kids as #’s) If your teams are uneven, have someone go twice Set the group of clothes to be put on at one end of the classroom - opposite the kids. Each team has a group of clothes to put on. Make them as similar/hard to put on as possible. Suggestions: Helmet bike, football, army, or band, etc Pull-on Shirt (T-shirt extra large must be put on right side out, logo in the front or it doesn’t matter") Armor Knee pads bike, skateboard, basketball, or soccer shin guards, etc (OK to fasten only one of the straps to keep it on or have to have everything fastened to be considered ‘on'). (Optional) Baseball catcher’s chest protector, pillow/case with loops of elastic to put arms thro Elastic shorts (2 sizes kids large & men’s x-large for the different size kids) Tell the girls in dresses that they only have to pull the shorts up to their knees/thighs. Shield (pot/pan lid, cardboard, plastic) Weapon (sling, spear, sword, bat, tennis racket) Go over the best ‘order’ to put things on put t-shirt on before the chest protector, t-shirt on before helmet, etc To start the race don’t use ‘on your marks, get set, go Yell, Who will fight this giant? Kids yell, I will Say, Go in the name of the Lord! (To start the race) The first child on each team races to the other end of the room and put on the ‘armor’ After each child has his ‘armor’ on, they have to say, I come in the name of the Lord! (Have a cue card for them or written on the chalk board) then take off the armor and run back to tag the next person in line. Continue till all make it through the line. Let them go through once If more time allows, redo with different teams. Talk about teamwork and keeping the t-shirt in a condition that is not hard for the next person to put on and equipment not scattered everywhere. (We are all team members in the faith of God) The race only takes about 10 min, so make sure you spend some time on the commercial: "God Commercial Script Skeleton" taken from - David and Goliath - a lesson set from the Kirk of Kildaire also posted in this forum.

Good Morning, parents and kids Ecclesiastes 8:15 says, So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.

Bible Activities for kids..... Kids’ Bible Lesson About Worry Use this experience to help kids change worry into trust. You’ll need:... a Bible, pencils, and pre-cut paper (cut 8 1/2 x 11 paper in half vertically), one piece per child. The Lesson Say: In the Bible, Abraham and Sarah wanted a child. Since they’d grown old, they worried it was too late. Ask: What’s something you worry about? Have your kids fold the pre-cut paper in half and draw a sad, worried face on top. Tell them to keep the drawing simple. Then lead kids in a prayer about their worries. Read aloud Genesis 18:11-14. Ask: How can you change your worry into trust? Have kids fold the paper on the existing fold line so the first drawing is on the bottom. They’ll trace the outline of the face from the first drawing but this time drawing a smiling, happy face. Then have kids refold the paper so the worried face is on top again. Show them how to tightly roll the worried face side of the paper around a pencil and use the pencil to quickly roll it back and forth, making the picture change from worry to trust.
