Lately, I find myself reading through social media, asking "How did this happen? How do lies and hate have such a deep grip on everyone?" We've been through a ...lot. More in 18 months than in most decades past. It is a long, hard journey to regain the unity and soul President Biden has tasked us with. I have hope. I believe we will get there. Together. I have faith in people. I believe people are inherently good. We all want to do what is best. To make a difference, there needs to be a change in our "cyber" interactions. It is cowardice to hide behind a computer screen and yell, rant and bully those who have different views. "We" seem to know how "they" should live, but "I" surely know "they" are always wrong. The one thing that used to settle most disagreements was the "truth." "Truth" is no longer an agreed on set of facts. Don't get me wrong, the "truth is out there," but there are bad actors disguising lies doused with fear to manipulate an entire segment of population to their own advantage. (Both sides will point at the other here and say, "yeah, them." ) History will one day hold us accountable. I don't want to wait for history. Mother Teresa said, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." So, I challenge this. When you jump on your social media soap box, take the first 30 seconds to post something positive. A message of hope. A quote about courage. Repost good stories. They are everywhere. Then, you can return to your soap box and continue...but hopefully, whatever your opinion, it will be a little kinder. #chooselove #stopthelies #NoH8 #LoveNotFear
