While we certainly would have hoped for a different outcome, we are happy our Nevada County Sheriff's Search & Rescue team was able to respond and lend a hand to this incident.

Community concerns and awareness led to getting these guns off the street! Yesterday, our Detectives executed a search warrant at a large parcel in the 15000 block of Red Dog Rd. This search warrant was a direct result of numerous neighborhood complaints about the quality of life in the area. Several neighbors reported ongoing suspicious activity, consistent with suspected drug activity, occurring at all times of the day and night. As a result of this warrant, Charles Sch...roeder, 55, Nevada City was arrested and booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on multiple felony charges. Those charges stemmed from detectives locating over 3/4 of an ounce of suspected methamphetamine, several firearms including one pistol, three AR-15 ghost guns, and two suppressors in addition to dozens of rounds of ammunition. What could be better than playing with your ball in a pool of mud? Well, if you ask Chance our dispatch dog, this is the perfect Friday!

Take some time today and tomorrow to prepare for this incoming wind event. We are expecting very dry and windy conditions through Tuesday. Fire danger will be high and there will likely be a widespread PSPS event.

Within just a few hours of being contacted by the victim last night, Deputy Ball was able to locate the suspect and the stolen puppy. As the smile would show, Bobby was extremely thankful to get the family puppy back!

Without hesitation, our highly trained Crisis Negotiation Team and Special Enforcement Detail Team responded to assist Truckee Police with this situation. We may wear different patches, but we are all on the same team when it comes to serving the community. We are grateful this incident had a peaceful resolution.
