Shoulder Centration Reprogramming A very common shoulder problem is impingement at the acromion as the humerus sits too far forward under it, resulting in ongoing thickening of the head of the humerus as it is banged repeatedly by lifting our arm. Even after correcting the neuromuscular imbalances to enable correct movement strategies, the body defaults into using the same muscles with the same results. Here is a simple strategy for retraining awareness and centrating th...e humerus in the glenoid fossa after reprogramming. This shoulder issue is taught in Mod 2 of NMR. The fall series is scheduled. It will be taught via Zoom and in person as permitted: Mod 1 Sept 10, 11, 12; Mod 2 Oct 22, 23, 24; Mod 3 Dec 10, 11, 12; Mod 4 Jan 14, 15, 16. Mod 2 will be offered in person in Yelapa Mexico in October and also broadcast via Zoom simultaneously. A wonderful NMR Mod 1 IN PERSON in Yelapa Mexico = open air teaching space, sunshine and a gang of enthusiastic VERY capable NMR students and practitioners reviewing or taking NMR for the very first time. Boy did we have fun! Here's a screen shot of everyone on the Zoom and some fun photos of a first yoga morning with my favorite Yoga teacher Muriel Murphy, and our class location on a roof top terrance overlooking the water. Lunch time always provided time to swim!

And here is a free finishing touches video that is an essential part of making an NMR (or any other) correction stabilize. It's an off the cuff home video shot in Yelapa on the very roof top terrace where we'll be holding our class at the end of this month. Address any questions to me here or via DM on my FB page.

I love to share tools and perspectives with other practitioners. When I owned a school, Alive & Well! Institute of Conscious BodyWork, ALL the teachers who worked at my school shared that same ethos. They were experts in their subjects. They made more money as practitioners for sure, but they taught because they wanted to pass on what they knew. I'll be in Yelapa Mexico sharing NMR to anyone who wants to avail themselves of a tax deductible vacation in open air and sunshine. ...A small group of 6 - 8 students max will gather with lots of space around us. If You can't join us in person, you can join in via Zoom. NMR Mod 1 Live Streaming via Zoom Apr 30 - May 2nd will teach easy and immediately practical approaches to Reprogramming your clients' hips and low back coordination. It is simple but an amazing game changer. Anyone can learn to do this. Here's a 'how to' video to try... Lesson 3: Reprogramming Hips and Low Back part 2 https://vimeo.com/411579014

The best breathing training gives you the science behind all approaches and teaches you how to assess which client needs which approach. Rosalba Courtney DO introduced me to the power of the breath for healing 30 years ago when she taught at the Institute of Conscious BodyWork over several years. She is also on the team producing the Breathe Hawaii conference in Sept of 2022. https://www.rosalbacourtney.com/integrative-breathing-the/

Making Corrections Stay Corrected A man sub-clinically ‘injures’ his low back lifting an awkward weight onto a car roof rack a few months ago. After correcting the coordination patterns twice with NMR the same default keeps recurring. This would indicate a long term default pattern created by an earlier injury. 50 years ago a terrible wrench to the back pole vaulting. Yup, that would do it. This IS a classic Low back pattern:... Left Lumbar rotation facilitated; Lt QL short and rigid. Right Lumbar rotation inhibited. Right back shoulder unsupported due to torque in spine at T/L junction. Rt Shoulder protracts, BUTRt Pec Minor inhibited/weak. Left Iliacus accommodates and shortens, leaving Right ES inhibited also. Weight pulls to left and compresses left hip. Left Iliacus inhibits Right Pec Minor (Gait pattern). After cueing and correcting all neuromuscular firing patterns there remains ONE thing to do which, if left undone will result in the whole habitual movement pattern recreating itself when provoked by a new lifting injury or just over time with habitual use patterns. The client is asked to ‘extend’ the lower spine by tipping back the tail bone and sacrum. The left Erector Spinae fires and the right does not. He has no proprioceptive awareness of the inability to engage right lumbar extension. What exercise can we give him to wake this muscle up to respond when the low back extensor support is needed?

Who knew Brain Buttons could do this? Great testimonial experience from Kylie Riggs: "I wanted to let you know about an experience i had with the "brain buttons". I was training an older client(80+) with hearing aids, one eye partially blind and wears compression socks, so visual, vestibular and proprioceptively challenged...I have trained her to the point she is quite accomplished at balance work, split stance neutral, but this day she was all over the place like she was d...runk. In the same room was another trainer and client going through their repertoire. I noticed her increasing agitation with the noise coming from the other people and her motor control dropping off, so I cut it short, sat her down and cued her through brain buttons. After maybe a minute we got back up and went through the routine again with NO motor problems, balance was 100 percent better and the other folks still babbling away with whatever they were doing, so no alteration with noise reduction or movement distraction(she could see them, I could not).It was a result better than i could have hoped for. I wasn't sure it was the right tool for the problem. But it was WAY more productive than me asking the other folks to quieten down as in the real world she would have to move and balance with external stimulus turned up anyway. What a gift you have given me, thank you...I don't know if that was the right tool but it certainly sorted things out. Will see you for mod 2!" See more

Muscle Tests for the Abdominals Demonstrated here are the muscle tests for the Abdominals. This client (also an NMR Therapist), had a torque in the right back diaphragm inhibiting her ability to turn left using Obliques and QL. By the time we sorted out SubOccipital and T/L Junction torsions she tested strong for ALL Abs tests. The fascinating thing about all these torques was the clients complaint: Inability to engage plantar flexion through the great toe since hitting... it recently. This weakness in function changed immediately with the correction at the right back T/L junction. These muscles and the relationships among all muscles of the hips, abs and low back, will be explored in NMR Mod 1 LIVE STREAMING via Zoom Feb 5 - 7th. See details in NMR Events.

TEACHING VIA ZOOM is WORKING!! Thanks Theresa Hucks for your vote of approval! And thanks Evan Piasecki for your comment. You are one of our best supervisors! And thanks to Ryan Brown for this video and his multiple times helping others learn and @Kathleen Benanti and Ryan Brown of Integrated Therapies Institute for hosting us in Dallas so many times and building us a strong following in Texas. "I very much enjoyed the weekend Mod4 training! I was really impressed with th...e way you had everything organized and timed. And, while training like this is always better in person, everyone did a great job of interacting and instructing. I don’t feel like I missed anything by having the distance instruction. You’re a great leader and teacher. Thanks to you and all who guided the breakout sessions!" Theresa Hucks "You did an excellent job as always this past weekend. As always, thank you for your work and contributions towards elevating the massage/bodywork industry and beyond." Evan Piasecki
