As descendants of Oceania/Pacific Islands & as non-Black people of color, Nesians Unite’s leaders & club organization stands in solidarity with our Black kainga (community/family). We grieve the loss of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Amaud Arbery, Nia Wilson, Oscar Grant, Tony McDade, along with countless of documented and undocumented #BlackLives taken by police brutality, gun violence, and other acts of injustice. In solidarity, we are calling all of our followers, friends,... & family to take action. As Oceanic/Pacific Islanders living in the diaspora and benefiting from the work that our Black communities have built and continue to build in this nation, we CANNOT be silent. We must be ANTI-racist. For George Floyd! For Breonna Taylor! For Amaud Arbery! For Nia Wilson! For Oscar Grant! For Tony McDade! For our ancestors! For future generations! Sign a petition. Educate yourself and your community. Research. Make a call. Donate. Protest. Do what it is in your ability, power, and privilege to evoke positive change. BLACK LIVES MATTER! Stay tuned! We’ll be posting different resources & ways you can support and stand in solidarity with Black communities. #NoJusticeNoPeace #SayTheirNames #BLACKLIVESMATTER #NUStandsWithBLM #Oceania #WeAreOcean #DefundPolice #DefendBlackLives

Blessed Day Everyone! Nesians Unite has an exciting announcement! We've been working with Chabot's Ethnic Studies Department to have Chabot’s first ever Oceania/Pacific Islands Ethnic Studies Class! Big shout-out to Chabot’s Ethnic Studies Department; Professor Kay & Professor Gallucci for all of the support they’ve showed throughout this WHOLE process. Also, special s/o to Dr. Palaita & CCSF VS students for showing up with curriculum to help us get started & reasons why ...this class is needed. This class was co-created and led by our student leaders so that we not only get a class that represents us, but also a professor that looks like us. As always, thank you kainga (community) for always showing up when we called out for support. None of this could have been done without your guidance, love, and mana. Our ocean is growing. To our Pasifika family planning to attend Chabot & anyone who wants to learn about Oceania/Pacific Islands, this space is meant for you! Btw, this class is UC & CSU transferable. #WEAREOCEAN #CCCNU #HaySTACK #CCSFVASA #CSMMANA #Melanesia #Micronesia #Polynesia #Oceania
