Don't know why I was made to wander. I've seen the light, Lord, I've felt the thunder. Someday I'll go home again... And I know they'll take me in, And take it home. B.B. King, legendary blues singer and guitarist, who died #OTD in 2015. See more

If you've suffered a loss, there's probably a huge empty space that was filled up with joy and love. The love will always be there. Be kind to yourself; give yourself time to heal.

We really this approach to #TheConversation recommended by Ina Garten in RoundGlass: A recipe for your favorite, delicious comfort food to show this is an act of love. "It’s not only good to share our feelings, but when the time comes, the people close to us won’t be anguished wondering what to do to care for us," Garten says. "They will have the comfort of knowing exactly what we wantand that’s a true gift to someone you love." #endoflifeplanning #endoflife https://collective.round.glass//croissant-bread-pudding-u0

So deeply touching. We've all been in waiting rooms, bracing for bad news, praying for good news, surrounded by strangers who are likely doing the same. A reminder to be kind we don't know what the person next to us is going through.

The CDC says most effective cloth mask fabrics are tightly woven, like cotton and cotton blends, two or three layers, and breathable. "Fit is really important, because if there are any leaks, your mask isn't doing its job, Airborne disease transmission expert Linsey Marr says.

A person occasionally gets the opportunity to do something great. When that time comes, only two things matter: being prepared to seize the moment and having the courage to take your best swing. Hank Aaron, whose 755 career home runs broke the long-standing Major League Baseball record set by Babe Ruth and stood as the most for 33 years.

Today, we join people throughout the world to commemorate #HolocaustRemembranceDay. We mourn and honor the 6 million Jews, as well as the disabled persons, LGBTQ+ individuals, and many others, who were victims of the Nazis. We also honor the survivors and families, who will always feel this deeply traumatic loss.

We are bombarded by health news these days, often accompanied by provocative but misguided headlines. So, it can be difficult to navigate the quantity and quality of health information. But you don't have to be a scientist to read like one. https://www.nextavenue.org/how-to-read-health-news-like-a-/

Glennis Points, manager at the Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home, which cremates for other area funeral homes as well, said the crematory usually ran from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. before the pandemic. Now we are working until 3 a.m. most nights and starting back up again around 8 in the morning, she said. It’s been hard for us, but it’s been terrible for families, Points said. It’s never been a good time to lose somebody, but it’s been particularly terrible this year. They can’t embrace each other. They are afraid to come to large groups. It’s just so difficult.

Hartford service manager Teresa McCall, who is a former US Army Reservist, attended and co-sponsored the "Thank A Veteran" event at the American Legion Post CT117. "Since my husband Kevin McCall, a Coast Guard veteran, and I recently transferred our American Legion memberships to this post, it was a great opportunity to meet some of the local veterans and Legion members, share stories and thank them for their service," Teresa said. "Neptune provided some refreshments for the ...event." #VeteransDay In the photos: Kevin McCall, left, with Chris Veilleux, the organizer of the Newington Vet Coffee House; Joe, a Vietnam veteran who shared Army stories with Teresa; Post 117 Sr. Vice Commander Carole Wynne and her service dog, Alvin; the Missing Man/Fallen Comrade Table

"As is often the case in grief, there isn’t one black-and-white answer to this question," What's Your Grief points out. Here are some ways you can talk about a deceased loved one with your children, if it feels right.

I felt like my heart had been so thoroughly and irreparably broken that there could be no real joy again. Everyone wanted me to rejoin life, pick up the pieces and move on, and I tried to, I wanted to, but I just had to lie in the mud with my arms wrapped around myself, eyes closed, grieving, until I didn’t have to anymore. "I learned from my mother that the ability to experience joy during difficult times requires a degree of intentionality. You don’t just wake up feeling full of joy when it feels like the world is falling apart (or at least I know I don’t). You have to make a plan to celebrate and enjoy the things that you love. The things that will sustain you. As I’ve worked to manage my grief over the years, here is how I’ve learned to cultivate joy."

"Nearly two years isn’t enough time to say: 'You get through it.' Trauma’s impact is profound; post-traumatic stress ... Things can be OK; then not OK. I’m sharing in the hope others will open up. I’m inviting everyone to reach out to people in pain, to the grieving, and make the first moves. Because know this. As hard as it is to reach out to someone who is suffering, it is much harder for that suffering person to reach out to you."
