DAY CHANGE: Since our regular Salon day would be Valentine’s Day, and the Sunday before is the Super Bowl, we are moving this month’s Salon to TUESDAY, FEB 15th. Just for this one month only, join us on Zoom a day later than normal for these two very special guests. Director Dan Mirvish and Actor Christopher Dukes will share about indie filmmaking and Dan’s most recent film, 18 1/2 about an alternate to the Watergate scandal.... There’s been tons of buzz amongst the festivals already! We can’t wait to see some excerpts and hear all about how he made it smack in the middle of a pandemic. WOW. These longtime NCCers have undertaken a complete renovation of The Empress Art House Cinema in Fremont, NE! The project, led by The Digg Site, hopes to raise funds to restore this gem to its original glory as a theatrical art house. Our photos show The Empress Theatre, built in 1914. The original stage, brickwork, and artistic flourishes can still be found in the theatre, over 100 years later. The Empress will feature a wide range of films, host events for Nebraska filmm...akers, provide educational opportunities, and be a location for the White Light City Film Festival. NCC Fam At her request, we wanted to share with you that our mentor, dear friend, and acting coach Crystal Carson has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Of course, she has remained positive and optimistic through the process, strong, and in good spirits. That’s Crystal! She is hoping to start another round of chemo on Tuesday, but a glitch in insurance is threatening to deny coverage, and take away her doctors. Your prayers, good thoughts, and well wishes are welcomed - ...now more than ever - as she resolves her insurance issues and moves forward on her path to wellness.
