A technical glitch meant that local residents who tried to tune in to see the 108th annual Independence Day Parade in Nevada City on NCTV (Comcast cable channel 11, Suddenlink cable channel 16 and on the Internet at www.NevadaCountyTV.org) were disappointed. ... But NCTV will not only broadcast the parade several times during the next few days, it will make a DVD of the parade available to local residents. We are certainly dismayed that all of our planning for this special community telecast was undermined by a technical glitch that prevented the broadcast from going on the air that day, said Paul Minicucci, the new executive director of NCTV. "TouchDown Productions, our production partner for this telecast, the NCTV staff and many volunteers always work very hard to create a memorable parade broadcast for the community to enjoy." It is the first time in NCTV's history that technical problems have prevented a live holiday parade broadcast, Minicucci said. The parade will be broadcast between 20 and 30 times on Comcast and Suddenlink throughout the summer. The next broadcasts are at 7 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, July 12; at 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13; and at 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 14. Future air dates can be obtained by calling NCTV at 478-6400, ext. 250 or ext. 263. Starting July 14, the parade can also be viewed on demand at www.NevadaCountyTV.org. Click Video on Demand in the blue box and search for parade in the Search Archives box. TouchDown Productions and NCTV are also offering free DVDs of the parade. Call TouchDown Productions at 274-2206 to reserve a copy, which can be picked up at the NCTV studios in Nevada City (behind the former Imaginarium, corner of Nevada City Highway and Ridge Road).
