20th Anniversary of the attack on USS Cole (DDG 67) At 1118 local time on 12 October 2000, the guided-missile destroyer USS COLE (DDG 67) was the target of a suicide attack by terrorists during a routine refueling stop in Yemen's Aden Harbor. Seventeen U.S. Navy Sailors were killed and 37 were injured in the blast, which tore a 40-by-60 foot hole in the ships hull. The crew of COLE fought valiantly for more than 96 hours to save their ship and shipmates. Their actions are the... reason why COLE remains a vital part of our Navy today. Please observe a moment of silence at 1118 (local) today to recognize the twentieth anniversary of this attack. We will pause to remember those who were tragically lost, pay tribute to the heroic actions of the crew, and reflect on our responsibility to carry their proud legacy forward. https://www.surflant.usff.navy.mil/remember67/ https://www.history.navy.mil//s/modern-ships/uss-cole.html #navsup #navalbasesandiego #sandiego #NAVY #usscole

Here at NAVSUP FLC San Diego we are always proud of the many accomplishments of our military and civilian employees! Today we recognize Lt. Cmdr. Elliot Torresrivera on the occasion of his promotion to lieutenant commander, today in the warehouse of Bldg. 116! Former NAVSUP FLCSD Commanding Officer Captain Brian J. Anderson was the officiating officer as LCDR Torresrivera's family proudly replaced his insignia with his new rank. Bravo Zulu! #navsup #navalbasesandiego #sandiego

NAVSUP FLC SAN DIEGO SAILORS MERITORIOUSLY PROMOTED! ABF2 Dimitrianton Altobar and HT3 Yolanda Matthews Matthews have been selected for promotion as part of the Navy’s Meritorious Advancement Program. Petty Officer Altobar competed with the best Sailors from across the NAVSUP Enterprise. His performance leading our Fuels Team out at San Clemente Island set him apart as NAVSUP’s Petty Officer First Class selection. Equally impressive are the contributions and achievements o...f Petty Officer Matthews who has selflessly supported both our HAZMAT operation, and most recently contributed to the success of our Joint Personal Property Shipping Office as she supported household goods moves for Sailors and their families around the globe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Both of these Sailors have consistently provided first-rate service to our NAVSUP FLC San Diego team, Navy Region Southwest and the mission partners we support daily. Their efforts and commitment to service is truly commendable. Congratulations on a job well done! #navy #navsup #navalbasesandiego #flcsd

Some of the most dedicated sailors within our Navy are right here at NAVSUP FLC San Diego! One sailor in particular at Site Ventura, takes great pride in making sure operations remain 100% capable of supporting our warfighters during the COVID-19 pandemic: LS1 Roly Roy, the leading petty officer at San Nicholas Island. During the absence of one of our civilian employees, LS1 Roy stepped up to the plate and voluntarily took on additional responsibilities to ensure tenant commands at Point Mugu were getting Direct Turn Over (DTO) shipments delivered in a timely manner. Thank you LS1 Roy for your hard work and dedication to the mission at hand! Photos by LTJG Sheena Fernandez #navy #navsup #flcsd
