Been dealing with seizures here this last week, planning to re-open on Monday.
Second incubator is peeping! Barnyard mix in this one. Watch this page for photos!
What's Available Wednesday! This week, we have chicks from our easter egger pen - picture blue eggs thru and thru! But wait, these are our miniature birds which means small eggs and even more adorable chicks. We have just over a dozen still available, going in packs of 3 for ten dollars. ~Annette
On to the 2021 marketing stuff...at last!
Harvested the last of this year’s onions today. Tomorrow, I make yummy stuffs
I was taking a photo of our free library and realized this is a good time for a farm update. Those are our Roma tomatoes you see mid shot, already flowering heavily but no fruit yet The mounds in the foreground are home to our winter squash, mainly pumpkin with about a dozen butternut plants mixed in for flavor. Most of the peppers are behind the tomatoes, but on photo right you can spot a giant sunflower showing off.
Spring plants are coming up wonderfully herbs now large enough I’ve begun drying the surplus! Anyone wants some dried chocolate mint, got lots
Canning season has begun! See photo for the 'what is that' answers
My life many days - do I turn on the garden soaker hoses, or will those black clouds five miles south manage to get up here today? Yesterday, started raining minutes AFTER I’d watered everything
Our new business cards arrived today! We'll be including these with all purchases, hopefully to be passed along to others.
As we continue to enjoy an early spring here in the Mojave desert, it’s time to think of things other than produce Our farm is home to dozens of animals, from chickens to geese to goats to pigs. All of whom LOVE visiting with kids (and grown ups) especially when getting fed treats. We will have pouches of grainy goodness (I.e. treats) available FREE at our stand, feel free to grab a few and have some first hand interactions with our ‘field’ workers and produce tasters
Planting like...well, actual farmers around here! Hot Peppers anyone?
Cutenesses alert! Cuteness alert! There’s five babies total and they’re loving free ranging from rabbit pen to rabbit pen.
Does your county or city offer free compost or mulch? Los Angeles does! https://www.lacitysan.org///y250/mda4/~edisp/cnt008922.pdf
We start spring planting THIS weekend! OMG! Lots and lots of onions, 13 types of herbs, spinach, lettuces, beets, turnips, radishes, it's produce-insanity around here.
We love being able to buy fresh, local milk from a local HUMANE dairy farm (can you tell which word is important in this sentence?)
The most commonly found (and used) beet in America, the Detroit Dark Reds are also a HUGE hit with rabbits!
Maybe you've used rubbed or dry sage in a dish, but have you tried fresh?
We needed okra for a gumbo last week and couldn't find it anywhere in our rural area! Bringing fantastic farm fresh produce not found in local 'stores' is one of our major goals in 2020!
