National City Southeast VFW Post 4630 is honored to have Darnisha Hunter and Lew Barnes join us in this day of observance for the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This day is seen as a day to promote equal rights for all Americans, regardless of their background. Ms. Hunter for the past 8 years worked directly for Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer, as Community Representative for District 4 and Veteran Advocate for the City of San Diego . Now she works for the San Diego Police De...partment as their Community Engagement Specialist Program Coordinator working directly with the community and law enforcement to reestablish trust through a deeper level of community policing One Community One Team. Lew Barnes is a former professional American football wide receiver who played three seasons for the Chicago Bears, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Kansas City Chiefs. Barnes played college football at the University of Oregon. Mr. Barnes graduated from Lincoln High School in Southeast San Diego and is an active member of the Lincoln Hornet Alumni Association(LHAA). During these trying times of Covid-19, let us remember to wear our masks and practice social distance.
