Tips for Disinfecting Clothes and Spaces to Protect Those at Home Have a designated entry and changing area: If possible, try entering your home through the sam...e area each daya garage, a mudroom or entry way. Leave a clean robe or change of clothes in that area (if needed) and take a shower as soon as you can. Wash all clothes worn at work and during your commute: Consider changing into commuting clothes before you leave work and place scrubs in a plastic bag to take home. When you get home, wash all clothes worn before showering, including scrubs and commuting clothes. Leave items worn at work in designated areas: Try placing shoes in a plastic bin where they can be wiped down, or a garbage bag outside. Put work clothes in a bag that can be carried to the washing machine (wash on warm or hot if possible). You can also leave items like shoes in the car. Disinfect any personal items that you brought to work: If you can, limit what you bring into work, and wipe down personal items once at home. Common items could be phones, glasses, keys, pens and ID or credit cards. The CDC also offers instructions to safely disinfect your home. Save hugs until after you shower: We know that seeing family is so important after your shift. However, disinfecting/washing clothes and showering before you spend time with family can help prevent germs from spreading. Remember good hand hygiene: Wash your hands when entering and before touching anything in your home. See more
