Congratulations to Sidney Collin, CEO of De Oro Devices and developer of NexStride on her excellent research review summary with Dr. Becky Farley, PhD, MS, PT, a leader in Parkinson’s research and the Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of PWR! and NeuroFit Networks. This scientific paper summarizes the research showing the benefit of external cueing and the importance of portable, variable, on-demand cueing for freezing of gait in Parkinson’s Disease. https://lnkd.in/g5xjKYQ #knowledgeismedicine #parkinsonsdisease

Here is a long but fantastic letter full of good advice from Nancy Stewart, Ireland’s oldest citizen, aged 107, who wrote a letter recently to encourage people in these difficult times. To anyone who needs a reason to keep going: This weekend, I turn 107, born on October 16, 1913. Imagine turning 107 in a world pandemic! This is definitely something very unusual even for me and all I’ve been through. I have faced many heart-breaking moments and have seen many hard times. I w...rite to you today to send you my love and offer you my blessings. Like everything I’ve been through since the day I was born in 1913, no matter how bad things got, I am living proof that we can survive and in years to come, this will be a distant memory. It has helped me to keep positive throughout the struggles I’ve met. I thank you for keeping faithful and keeping your resilience strong through this hard time. I have been secluded in my house since March with my granddaughter. We drink tea. We say prayers. We bake. We laugh. We make phone calls. I can even video call family and friends and am making new friends every day that I am on this earth. That’s an important thing to say- if you’re feeling low, call, someone or go for a walk. Keep talking to one another. All my life, I have believed in chatting & drinking tea, & saying a prayer. We must try to make sure we don’t lose sight of each other. This is a moment for humanity to step forward to take care of the other. We must mind ourselves but also mind those around us. Look up and smile, even if you have your mask on. Your EYES will smile and that may be all someone needs to keep going. Thank you for reading my letter & I hope I have, in even a little way, helped you feel less alone in this moment. There is always hope & if we keep talking to one another, no day will seem empty. It only takes a small candle to take away the dark- we can be that light in the world. Much love, Granny Nancy

October is National Physical Therapy Month and we want to say THANK YOU to this special network of people. In the PMD Alliance community, the Therapy Network i...ncludes allied health professionals- our physical, speech and occupational therapists, in addition to nutritionists, social workers and counselors. This group is invaluable because caring for the whole person empowers someone impacted by a movement disorder to do more than survive - it empowers them to live fully! THANK YOU, PHYSICAL THERAPISTS!
