We so appreciate our Music Place community standing with us during this difficult time. Since our largest constituency is families, I wanted to pass on this wonderful example of VALUING COMMUNITY in light of the values that we teach our children "What would my Mom think of that?" "In a race, (see picture), athlete Abel Mutai representing Kenya, was just a few feet from the finish line, but he was confused with the signage & stopped thinking he had completed the race. The Spa...nish athlete, Ivan Fernandez was right behind him & realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn't know Spanish didn't understand. Then the Spanish pushed him to victory. A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?" Ivan replied, "My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life". The journalist insisted "But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win". The journalist insisted again, "But you could have won!" Ivan looked at him & replied, "But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honour of that medal? What would my Mom think of that?" Excited to be opening in the following Phases as of next week: To best protect our most vulnerable classes and teachers, in-person classes will phase in over 3-4 weeks as noted below. Week #1 Eff. June 8th: PRIVATE LESSONS (no groups) will begin with teachers who have affirmed that they are not at risk, desire to return and have completed all required training on safety protocol.... Week #2 Eff. June 15: EMA & INSTRUMENTAL GROUP CLASSES ARE ADDED to private lessons as teachers are ready. (Outdoor vocal classes are an option at Baywood.) Week #3 Eff. June 22: VOCAL GROUPS, CAMPS, SELECTED SENIORS OR OTHERWISE AT-RISK teachers will be added to in-person lessons as they feel ready and have completed all necessary safety training. SPECIAL NOTE: Because of the special circumstances surrounding Music Therapy, only one therapist is currently seeing clients in person. When your therapist is ready for you, our therapy team will reach out!.
