Music and the arts promote both mental health and equity, two primary drivers of learning!

Boy does this hit home. Our extremely effective Achieving Through Music Program ran for seven years and served over 10,000 youth annually at its height. Students achieved over 50% better in academics and attendance and stayed out of trouble. Then the funding ran out. We know how to do it and would love to do it again!

Fascinating how music shapes our life. MUST is devoted to helping children experience its transforming power

Do you remember singing the National Anthem? Music seals emotion into our memory. That's one of the reasons MUST emphasizes social emotional development as essential to learning.

Thank you for all the donations coming in! We truly appreciate your support. . . Our Board is matching all donations - big and small - for donations made before December 31st!... . . For every $100 donation, our Board gives $100. For $200 donations, our Board matches that also. For $1000 donations, the Board will give $1000. Please join us in advocating for music education for all! . . The arts connect and music heals us all. More than ever, children need social interaction and positive connection to family and school, and music offers hands-on activities to help! . . We also train our MUST teaching artists to listen to children. We use music education to connect with children in a way that goes deeper than the music lesson. Children are our brightest hope and MUST is here to support them, their teachers, parents and caregivers. . . Please make a tax deductible gift right now and DOUBLE your impact in providing music classes to children who need it most before this rate match expires. . . Your donation will provide life-changing opportunities for the toddlers, children and teens! . . Thank you for your continued support this Holiday season as we work to meet our year-end goal of $50,000 by December 31. . . #musicinschools #musicinschoolstoday #musicineducation #musiceducationmatters #sel #fundraiser #nonprofit #virtuallearning

Holiday Instrument Drive . . Through our instrument donation program, we provide students with their instrument of choice in order to put instruments into the hands of children who can’t afford private lessons. It has been especially difficult for teachers and students adjusting to the pandemic.... . Music in Schools Today is doing our share to help teachers to transition to different instruments, and to be sure those children who can’t afford instruments still have a chance to play. . . We are gearing up for a nine- Bay Area County drive, to offer as many instruments as possible to keep music classes alive. We are collecting and distributing instruments right now and will be collaborating with KOIT radio on a major drive this spring. . . We’ve donated over a million dollars worth of instruments to schools over the years, and we’d like to donate a million more! . . Please make a charitable gift today to help us make this the biggest drive ever. If you have instruments to donate, email is at [email protected]. . . #musicinschools #musicinschoolstoday #musiceducation #musiceducationmatters #sel #instrumentdrive

Ms. Lisa brings it home with the final video in her Countdown To Christmas! This holiday traditional (adapted by John Gorka) is truly the perfect choice to t...op the list of PS22 Christmas songs for 2020. It's a gorgeous bittersweet yet hopeful conclusion. Presenting: #1 "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" From Ms. Lisa: "We made it! Thank you all so much for coming along for the ride. It's been so heartbreaking not to be in the auditorium with the kids this year. This countdown truly has been a blessing. It allowed me to travel down a road filled with so many beautiful memories. The songs were really in no particular order, every one holds a special place in my heart. With that said, I cannot think of a better way to bring it to a close than with, "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day." I wish each and every one of you a happy holiday season , a very Merry Christmas, and a happy and healthy New Year! And as the song says, 'Peace on earth, good will to men.' Fondly, Ms. Lisa" SONG: "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" by John Gorka SOLOIST: Sierra FILMED BY: Ms. Lisa

"Most people have heard of Koko, the gorilla who could speak about 1000 words in Sign Language, and understand about 2000 in English. What most people don’t kno...w, however, is that Koko was an avid Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood fan. When Fred Rogers took a trip out to meet Koko for his show, not only did she immediately wrap her arms around him and embrace him, she did what she’d always seen him do onscreen: she proceeded to take his shoes off." I’m penning this as the #YouCanBeABCs with Sam. Literally stopped him from drinking a smoothie to film this. In addition to being the co-writer, I think Sam des...erves credit for choreography. #keepdreaming #kids (for the record, it’s all memorized.
