Over the last few weeks through a partnership between El Sistema USA, YOLA National at Home, and the Collective Conservatory approximately 50 3rd-5th graders from six California-based El Sistema programs collectively made music together online! They have created their own piece, after spending a week with the Collective Conservatory learning about improvisation, found sound, recording ...and sampling, mindfulness, and engaging in collective creativity. We know how difficult these times can be for kids to stay at home without their normal activities. Because of that, we want to share this great, FREE opportunity for keeping children active with a fun activity!!

Great opportunity for our students !!! Dear MMSF families: We would like to share some information about a FREE educational summer program for students from Music Mission San Francisco. The subjects are Math and English. Space is limited, so please contact them by phone or email if you are interested in enrolling your kid in this program. Don’t forget to mention you are part of Music Mission San Francisco since we are tracking the students who are participating. In times like this, we want to help each other and support our communities and children in all possible ways. Stay safe and we hope to see you all soon!

Dear MMSF families, In keeping with the guidelines of the San Francisco Unified School District, we will Not have MMSF classes beginning Wednesday, March 18 through Friday, April 3rd. We will meet tomorrow March 13th. ... After that, class will resume on Wednesday, April 8th unless you here something different from us. We hope to e-mail some assignments the students can work on and some helpful YouTube videos. Thanks everyone and stay safe

Music Mission San Francisco is seeking a cello teacher for immediate hire! MMSF is an El Sistema-based string education program in the Mission district of San Francisco that meets twice a week for two hours on Wednesdays and Fridays. We are looking for a faculty member who is energetic, has excellent classroom management skills, and wants to continue to develop and improve the program. Student spotlight: Aarav, one of our 3rd-year violin students, performed a solo on violin and played in the viola section at his school’s orchestra concert! Congratulations, Aarav!

MMSF students enjoyed a performance and Q&A session with violinist Elbert Tsai! Mr. Tsai is a former member of the San Francisco Symphony and serves as the Artistic Ambassador for MMSF. Stay tuned for more posts about this Spring’s guest artists!

Responsibilities for this position include teaching a beginning cello class in addition to a class for students who have been in the program for two years. We are looking for a faculty member who is energetic, has excellent classroom management skills, and wants to work with existing faculty to continue to develop and improve the program.
