Muranaka Bonsai Nursery

I just finished pruning my second favorite tree on this property. Notice the nice fissured bark. The trunk diameter is about 2 feet across.

This is one of my favorite pines to work on. It takes about 7 hours to cut all the candles and to thin the tree.

This my toyonishiki quince. It had a white flower earlier and I noticed many new flowering blossoms from one area of the tree. It can flower white, red pink and variegated flowers all one the same plant.

Pink crabapple beginning to flower. No leaves yet. The weather has been very cold, except for a few warm periods thrown in. Most flowering trees are behind from 4-6 weeks.

The first two pictures are of a flower from a fruit quince. This type of quince develops a tight twig structure. It also develops a small fuzzy fruit that is slightly larger than a golf all. It also develops a canker on the bark. I have seen people try to remove the canker, but it always comes back. The third photo is of a pink ume that is growing in the ground.

As I was helping customers at the nursery, this egret landed and decided to walk around the nursery.
