The million dollar question: when will we be able to offer open swim and classes again? The short answer: it might be awhile. According to the COVID19.ca.gov website, indoor pools cannot reopen for fitness programs until we get to the orange category. Santa Barbara County is currently in the purple category, (> 7 new cases per 100,000 residents per day) over a 7 day period. (For reference, the red category = 4-7 new cases/100000 residents; orange = < 4). So... pleeeease do your part (and encourage others to do the same): wear your mask, wash your hands, maintain your distance, and avoid big gatherings. We miss you and look forward to the day we can all make waves together again!

Happily Ever After! Breanna and Travis tied the knot this weekend in a very intimate beachfront ceremony. Due to Governor Newsom’s recent order to close indoor fitness centers, we need to temporarily suspend our water fitness classes, boot camps, and open swim sessions once again. Aquatic physical therapy will continue as an essential business.

We just wrapped up our first week of classes, and it was great to see so many familiar (smiling!) faces! Have you been wondering how we’re able to safely maintain our distancing? Here’s a quick clip from Thursday night’s Aqua FIT class. As you can see, stations are set up 10-12 feet apart, so everyone has plenty of space to exercise without worrying about nearby classmates. (Additional precautions include mandatory COVID screening, temperature checks, hand washing, and use of face coverings on the pool deck.)

BOOT CAMP IS BACK! All of our classes are now limited to no more than 6 people, which allows approximately 10 feet of distancing between patrons in the deep end of the pool. Advance reservation is required, so sign up on Mindbody if you would like to join us!

If you’re in need of a 91-degree pool to do your exercises, you’re in luck! We allow up to five people to use our pool during our open swim times; no prescription necessary. Registration is now open for the month of July; head to Mindbody (or: https://www.mulleraquaticcenter.com/open-swim) to reserve your spot!

We’re excited to announce the return of our water fitness classes! We’re rolling out a new schedule in July, and you can expect some changes due to COVID-19 precautions (like small class sizes and no rowdy games of water polo). While best known for their work following the Montecito mudflow disaster, the SB Bucket Brigade has been hard at work during the pandemic, making (literally) thousands of face coverings and face shields to help protect critical service workers.
