Mt Baldy Resort 25.12.2020

OPERATION UPDATE - Please read before heading up! The road re-opened late this morning to a flood of snow players, but, at least it is clear. The weather forecast calls for clear skies through the remainder of the holiday break and with the exception of some marginal wind events later this week we do not expect any interruptions to operations through the weekend. We have received 24 of new snow along with high winds all day that are forecast through the night. ...We were able to get a machine and a set of tracks out on the mountain today here is what to expect. Snow Tubing: Open, with the addition of lanes. Dress warm it is going to be cold through the forecast period. Chair #2: Excellent coverage. We will begin rebuilding the terrain park tomorrow night and will focus on more small jumps and rollers with 2 or 3 sliders. Chair #3: Thunder Mountain will open tomorrow with thin coverage. There is enough snow to groom the Easy Road, Mullins Mile, and a narrow path down Bonanza with at least 1 very rocky area. The rest of Thunder is mostly covered, but with extremely thin areas and obstacles; sapling trees, bare spots, and rocks. For the Baldy Locs, you know the program, ski and ride slow and under control. There are good turns to be found, but no shortage of obstacles to be negotiated. For folks new to Mt Baldy, unless you are an advanced/expert skier or rider and up for an adventure you will want to stick to the limited amount of groomed areas that we have. Chair #4: Will not operate. For those looking to hike and snag a couple of fresh turns over there, you can expect similar coverage as Thunder except with more bare spots from the wind. Reservations are mandatory. At the current pace, we are selling out 48hrs in advance. You will be turned around at the gate without a reservation or a season pass. #thisisbaldy See more

MOUNTAIN UPDATE: More snowmaking weather along with an offshore flow is in the forecast this weekend. Although we love snowmaking opportunities, we do not see a winter system on the horizon that will allow us to open for skiing and snowboarding by our proposed date of December 11. We will be pushing that date back to Christmas Day. Expect our guest service to reach out over the next week to re-book or offer refunds for ski & snowboard tickets if a re-booking is not an opt...ion. In the meantime, we will be open Friday, Saturday & Sunday for Scenic Rides to the Top of the Notch with take out food and refreshments to support all you mountain enthusiasts taking care of your immune systems by staying healthy and active in the outdoors. See you on the mountain! 11.13.20

We are CLOSED today. Still no sign of LA County to address the road problem below the village. We expect that once the sun shines on Baldy Rd long enough the ice will melt and the road will re-open at some point. However, by that time the day will be lost and the droves of snow players will have jammed the road. Please direct all ticket rescheduling request to the customer service form on our website. Stay tuned for an operations update by noon.

We got good news and we got bad news. First the good news, there is 16 of new snow in the parking lot, 21 at the Notch, and potentially more and the top of Thunder. Now, the bad news, Mt Baldy Rd has been jammed for the last 8hrs and is still at this moment. We expect that 90% of our staff is stuck on the road with a significant portion of Southern California’s worst drivers holding them captive. The forecast for tomorrow calls for northeast winds that could inter...fere with operations, and lastly, with the heavy snow that came late in the day, there is a substantial amount of Avalanche Control work to do in the morning before we can load on Chair #1. The synopsis, whether it is the wind or lack of employees we are going to have an extremely difficult time getting open tomorrow morning. At this point in time, we are not prepared to make any predictions regarding the opening of any new terrain or opening time tomorrow. We assure you that we will be working tirelessly with the resources that we do have to get open as promptly as possible. CHAINS will be required tomorrow morning and we expect an early crowd that will more than likely add to the delay of our staff getting to work. Please, stay in your car and do not LOITER. The kicker to this SNAFU is that we are in the middle of a surging pandemic due to COVID-19. Please respect our staff and other guests’ space and wear a mask at all times. Do not form a line until you are requested to do so. If you do not have a ticket do not bother coming. Anyone with a reservation that would like to avoid the circus, we will be happy to rebook your reservation to another date. SEASON PASS HOLDERS Please hang tight at your vehicle and await instruction from our staff, we will be proactively addressing issuing Season Passes separately from tickets. Do not form a line until/unless you are instructed to do so. We thank you in advance for your patience. To those that just can’t help themselves tomorrow, we’ll see you on the mountain. See more

We are currently open for skiing & snowboarding on Chair #2, Snow Tubing, and Scenic Rides to the Top of the Notch. Be advised operations are subject to weather, however, our team is preparing to operate right through the storm. Expect temperatures to be... well below freezing through the forecast period. Indoor spaces are not available due to COVID-19 operational restrictions so be prepared for the weather. Stay tuned for live updates tomorrow! #thisisbaldy See more
