We're sad to share with the community that the Dance Hall building in Mt. Shasta City Park was significantly damaged this morning in an act of felony vandalism.... This historic building - built in the 1930s - is one of the favorites in the park. Most of its 50 windows were smashed, the floors were damaged, the doors destroyed and the remodeling work our staff was just finishing was ruined. The police department has made an arrest. Plenty of families and groups have a history with this building, and we're certain this is sad news for everyone who knows this building and the park. As we work to make a plan for the future of the Dance Hall, if you feel strongly about supporting that work you can help by making a donation to the Mt. Shasta City Park fund at Shasta Regional Community Foundation here: https://www.shastarcf.org/funds/mt-shasta-city-park-fund It's going to take a lot to restore the historic character the Dance Hall and this community asset. We'll keep the community informed as we move forward.
