Disk brake vs Drum brake It is always important to know the parts that are on your vehicle. Vehicles have two types of brakes. Disk brakes and drum brakes. A disk brake is a brake that use the caliper to squeeze a pair of brake pads or rotors to create friction and slow it down. A drum brake is a brake that uses friction caused by a set of shoes or pads that press outward against a rotating cylinder-shaped part.
