Had a great group that returned for a 2nd trip with me. An afternoon 1/2 day Sat. 8/11/18 No monster halibut this day. We fished the deeper structure off La Jolla. Found the larger Calico Bass 9 Calicos smallest was a little over 14in. And the biggest was 22 in. Very nice quality. Only 4 shorts to release.... 1 sheepshead 1 rockfish Had 3 shots at the Yellowtail but came up short on those. Thanks again Jay, Kelly, Ryan and newbie Richard. You guys worked hard for what you took home.

Heart break off of Encinitas, CA. I went 0 for 2 on the big Bluefin tuna. 1st fish lost after 10 minutes. This fish hurt. I was fighting him for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Lost him at the side of the boat. Fish came on the surface iron. Hooked on a Tady 45 mint and white with a 10' cal star 540, Shimano Trinidad 20A with 50# mono top shot , 65# spectra. Fish was definitely north of the 100# mark. Next Sunday 7/31/16 and Monday 8/01/16 are available for charter. The cost of the trip is $1,200.00 and is for 4 anglers or less. Give me a call to schedule. 760-470-7713
Next Saturday 7/23. I had a cancellation. The big Bluefin have popped up close. If you have the appropriate gear. Give me a call. 760-470-7713 I am planning an open party trip to target these monsters. This will be a 5am to 5pm trip. Cost is $300.00 per person. 4 anglers max. 3 anglers min.
Went out solo looking for Bluefin. Never found them. Lots of birds, Dolphins, and whales. Even a Sea Turtle. No tuna though. Did get a small Mako Shark. He was pretty cool and made a good account of himself for his size. I was about 10 miles off of the beautiful San Diego coastline.
