It has been a little over 1 week since we moved to using telehealth as our only therapy modality and since then, our home and work lives changed drastically. ...We just want to express our gratitude to all for quickly adapting and continuing to allow Mariposas and MP Health to fulfill our mission of helping children and families everywhere. We also want to share all that was accomplished in 1 short week with all, because we have to be very proud of our contributions during these difficult times. We are one special agency that successfully embraced telehealth before the COVID-19, and therefore was more than ready to take on the challenge. On Sunday 15th, Lucy and I made the decision to move Mariposas to telehealth services and communicated this to TCRC. That same day, TCRC started to work on this as policy in light of the then required social distancing. On Monday 16th, we were given the approval and since then everyone started implementing it successfully. On Wednesday 18th, a group of amazing therapists: Brooke, Carly, Heather and Melanie, put together an online training (also a great written summary with simple tips), and now everyone has the information. I have seen so many texts and emails from thankful families that appreciate our efforts to continue to reach them, despite technology challenges, and for the support in keeping some normalcy for their children. In this short week: most early start families are continuing to receive services with almost all of our therapists implementing this new system, all of our counselors are continuing to see their clients, most of our clinic children (ages 3 yrs. and up) are continuing to receive their therapies, the school programs that we serve are also being supported this way. Our toddler center in Del Norte is now providing all preschool-therapy services via telehealth. This new telehealth program was designed, proposed and accepted by RCRC and went into functioning one day later. As a result these amazing teachers and aides are videotaping daily a circle time, a snack/cooking activity, an art activity and our SLP’s are also videotaping ideas and support for parents. Due to their incredible work, ALL of our Mariposas families can now access, something therapeutic and new from their homes on a daily basis (Please contact Sofi if you’ll want to have your families added to the list). Also, if you have a moment send a hello to Connie who is all alone at the Del Norte Toddler Center holding the fort and making videos inside the classroom daily!!!! Lastly, our amazing office is fully functioning remotely and the support they provide to each other and to all is incredible. Such a dream team!!! For some, working from home with babies, little kids and technology that does not support the requirements of the office work, is a challenge they overcome daily. Again, thank you!!!
