Check out our community garden in every sense! Thanks to a partnership with O'side Kitchen Collaborative, our Y kids had the opportunity to spend two hours a week gardening and maintaining their very own vegetable garden at the Mottino Family YMCA! And the best part, after learning about science, healthy eating and social responsibility, the participants shared the fruit of their labor by donating the produce to the Oceanside Kitchen Collaborative! The Oceanside Kitchen Coll...aborative supports zero waste efforts by partnering with local farms and food businesses. They divert and rescue fresh produce to nourish and educate our community. Since March 2020, they provided 250,000 plus meals to families and people in need during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Y is grateful for the opportunity to partner with this awesome effort to reduce waste and educate the next generation! See more

As an organization dedicated to youth development, the Y knows how important it is for children to have an enriching place for learning and growth. For children and families to have this during the pandemic was even more important. Over the summer, the Y was able to provide day camp programs to families in need, thanks to the County of San Diego - Government, Supervisor Fletcher and The San Diego Foundation. Y camps continued to be a safe place for children to learn and have fun while parents returned to essential jobs.
