The GIANT Lupine of Mt Shasta....or BIG leaf Lupine...

Wild goose chase on Goosenest....Looking for and hoping to do a longer loop ride..We started out up in elevation and with a beautiful light dusting of June snow and winter like snow scenes...Heading out to make a nice loop on the flanks of Goosenest, a scenic ancient volcano...Traversing up and through many of the lava flow fields, blanketed in magnificent forest of red fir, white pine and hemlock, we were treated to FANTASTIC VIEWS from the east side of Goosenest. OUTDATED forest service map and overgrown roads that once were, a loop was not possible. The very remote, rugged area sees little to no activity and the forest has reclaimed what once were old logging roads...All and all a FABULOUS 19.5 miles in the saddle!
