Stop. Drop and Mow. Aptos and Monte Toyon Camp are getting ready to move into a yellow zone. That means that we will be able to continue to increase the group size we can host safely. We have been hosting day camps provided by the Web of Life Field (WOLF) School, and we have had other small groups stay too. We are excited to get back to doing what we love most and what we prepare for year round, hosting groups at our camp who come to enjoy nature along with their programs.... As we prepare to move into the yellow zone, yet still with limited staff, we were excited to have our HR director come to camp last week and help us mow the ballfield. Monte Toyon Helping Hands September 10, 2020 Sometimes you wonder how you can help. Other times an opportunity arises and you grab hold. Since fire season in California affected our area so closely this year, Monte Toyon Camp was fortunately safe, but we were able to help offer refuge to people who have been displaced.... It is with great heart that Mickey, our Site Director, and his wife Tiffany, made sure these people were fed and had a safe place to rest and slumber. Mickey, at the front of the serving side, helps serve up some food donated from local restaurants to an evacuee from the fire just up north of the camp. In addition to helping so many displaced evacuee’s Mickey also took a moment to photograph the outdoor social distancing classroom that Web of Life (WOLF) School will be using to host children. https://www.uccr.org/news/2020/9/3/monte-toyon-helping-hands

Programs for School Aged Children The Web of Life (WOLF) School is proud to announce our newly designed Environmental Education programs starting this Fall. As Bay Area schools have shifted to distance learning for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, WOLF School has focused on helping kids and families connect with the Web of Life, and has turned to supporting students and families as the...ir schools remain in distance learning until their counties have 14 consecutive days without new covid cases. WOLF SCHOOL NOW OFFERS NEW DISTANCE LEARNING SUPPORT, VIRTUAL, AND OUTDOOR EDUCATION LEARNING PROGRAMS IN ADDITION TO SOME OLD FAVORITES. This weekend, WOLF School’s first 2020 Social Distancing Family Campers will enjoy the forest of Camp Monte Toyon in Aptos, while families rest, relax, and recharge with the redwoods. Guided nature experiences, campfire programs, and hosted camping will allow families to get out and enjoy nature in a safe and nurturing environment. Family tent camping includes access to Monte Toyon's beautiful trail system, and the trails of Nisene Marks State Park. Campers can also take advantage of the nearby beach and local Aptos take out and outdoor dining. OUR NEW OUTDOOR LEARNING PROGRAMS ARE OPEN FOR REGISTRATION THIS NEXT WEEK. Designed to help working parents by offering kids a day camp style program at Monte Toyon and Camp Arroyo, WOLF will work with individual families to create small, consistent cohorts of campers, as specified by state and local authorities. Kids will learn, explore, and enjoy a fully outdoor education program at our camps in Aptos or Livermore. Including academic school support, homework assistance, outdoor science lessons, physical activity, fun, and socialization, our programs safe, consistent, distanced activities in the outdoors are led by qualified educators and will be custom designed with our attending families. WOLF CONTINUES TO OFFER VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTAL AND OUTDOOR EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO SCHOOLS AND INDIVIDUALS VIA ZOOM AND AVAYA. Schools are invited to contact WOLF School to organize regular weekly Nature or Science Naturalist-led lessons on screen, and when permitted WOLF will offer programs to schools at their school sites or nearby open space outdoor areas. At Monte Toyon Camp in Aptos, CA, we miss our guests, but that doesn’t mean we are lonely. We still have guests, yet these friends have four legs and two wings. So just know, until we see you again, we are tending the beautiful spaces and making new friends to share with you upon your return. Swallowtails at Monte Toyon Camp June 24, 2020 The Swallowtail butterfly must have heard that the Web of Life Field (WOLF) School is coming to Monte Toyon in July. As they flurry around camp it’s like they are helping us beautify and get ready for guests. Fellers camp is a great place in Aptos, CA to enjoy the wonders of the forest.... The DIY Family Camps are for families who want to get away together and enjoy nature activities and hiking led by an experienced Naturalist. Each family will have a separate campsite, (see photos) that is physically distanced from others. As for the Swallowtail butterflies, they get their name from the little "tails" on the back edge of their wings and are some of the largest butterflies in the world.
