MY NEW GREEN DEAL for us here in the Monterey Bay ...7/17/2019 !!!! : Seasons Greetings, ano nuevo prospero, and ready to roll in 2015. (Please go to thebestth...atmoneycantbuy.com to see this original post WITH ALL COMMENTS, which also are necessary to read to comprehend the entire scope of my Green New Deal!, Thanks, Doug) (7/17/2019 UPDATE: ) Here it is, Folks !!!! MY "Green New Deal" for the Monterey Bay, to make us here the global exemplar that we don't even yet realize that we want to or could actually be!!! On 7/21/19 6:22 AM, Douglas Deitch revised: Governor Newsom's "Water Portfolio Recommendation" submittal: "For over the last 25 years I have had and still have the same recommendation for our state water commons/aka "Portfolio", as well as all our other human, fiscal , and natural resources and systems: To live within our means. http://lomejorqueeldineronopuedecomprar.org 1996 , http://douglasdeitch.com 2011 , http://douglasdeitch.net , http://thinklocalactlocal.com, http://ourinconvenienttruth.com 2007, LCP Amendment, 2009: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyYd603w-5A&t=309s In this new era of accelerated climate change and unknown future and possibly massive SLR, Monterey Bay Conservancy and Douglas Deitch, California Congressional candidate/Monterey Bay-San Francisco (me @ http://lawandorderliberal.democrat , a facebook page) have two specific and, actually, long term projects to address the water, food security, future trillions of inundated real estate loss ( http://sanfranciscorealestate.com , http://sacramentorealestate.com , http://sanjoserealestate.com , http://oaklandrealestate.com , http://marincountyrealestate.com , http://sanmateorealestate.com , http://contracostarealestate.com , http://santacruzrealestate.com , http://montereyrealestate.com , et al, etc...) and other related loss and other catastrophic fiscal and death events, perhaps even as of yet unconceived of? 1. My "Water Fix" for the Monterey Bay": The 21000 acre Monterey Bay Estuarine Monument (including the 31k+/fy/yr Monterey One/Castroville Reclamation Plant water repurposed for urban use in the Monterey Bay Community @ http://montereyonewater.org/facilities_tertiary_treatment.h ) run down @ http://thebestthatmoneycantbuy.com (a facebook page) and @ 11:25 @ SWRCB, 4/19/2016 @ http://thebestthatmoneycantbuy.org , http://begentlewiththeearth.org , https://begentlewiththeearth.com , http://lawandorderliberal.net , http://ourinconvenienttruth.org , http://ourinconvenienttruth.net 2. My "Water Fix" for the rest of the Golden State: We must immediately begin the research and planning effort on whether or not and when, at the soonest, the Golden Gate will be dammed? @ https://www.linkedin.com//damming-golden-gate-douglas-dei/ , https://www.facebook.com//p.13358638464/1335863846435709/ This is my Green New Deal. Respectfully submitted, Douglas Deitch ED/Founder Monterey Bay Conservancy-a Monterey Bay and California Water Policy Thinktank California Congressional candidate-2020/ Monterey Bay-San Francisco Aptos, California 831.824.6699 ********************************************************************** DPR/Direct Potable Reuse must be implemented and allowed on the fastest schedule possible and all massively expensive, unnecessary, speculative, and very environmentally risky and and very ill advised water injection recharge projects in the Monterey Bay such as "Pure Water Monterey" and "Pure Water Soquel" must be put on hold pending a comprehensive and truly sustainable (if even possible in this era of unknown and perhaps massive SLR) master water plan for the entire Monterey Bay Region by ONE powerful regional water authority. New and unanticipated irrigated ag and massive ground water pumping in the "Monterey Pure Water" area is now and will be increasingly particularly problematical/ as reported @ http://www.montereycountyweekly.com//article_b35ca7e0-f66e Stopping overpumping/overdrafting is the best ground water recharge possible. We have plenty of rain here, and twice as much in Soquel as in Monterey. The concept of "doublethink" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doublethink ) from Orwell's 1984 and the disinterest, ignorance, and gullibility of SqCWD voters/customers is what these "Pure Water" projects depend on for their existence in the first place. I have had and still have perfectly pure water from my 2 very deep wells @540/545 Hudson Lane, Apots contiguous/next door to ONLY JUNIOR WATER RIGHTS HOLDER SQCWD (with only a water right to pump and sell ONLY SURPLUS WATER!!!) for almost the last 50 years ... the entire time which SQCWD was and still is now (?) constantly illegally overusing it's junior water and stealing, using, and selling water to which it is not legally entitled! And now SqCWD wants to build a $200 million cleaned sewage injection facility to correct the damages over decades caused by SqCWD's illegal overdrafting ... instead of simply reducing pumping and quit issuing water meters for massive new development they are approving WITHOUT any legal present or any proven future sustainable water supply for the future. Respectfully submitted, Douglas Deitch 540/545 Hudson Lane, Aptos, 95003 831.824.6699 ******************************************************************************* REVISED/FINAL) POWER, WATER, THE PEOPLE, AND OROVILLE DAM: If the gates cannot open on the earthen highest in country (?) Oroville Dam ( https://www.facebook.com/dougieforcongre//1941071442798891 , https://sacramento.cbslocal.com//15/pat-brown-oroville-dam/ , http://oroville.lakesonline.com/ , https://www.mercurynews.com//oroville-dam-frustration-fri/ , ), the results for the entire state of California and World will be catastrophic in all respects and very long lasting if not completely devastating. Power is mostly used here moving water. It is said that ninety percent of our human population would be dead within one year in the event of a CME/EMP event, either planned or natural (eg. Carrington Event). Our "Portofolio" must contain a resilient comprehensive statewide plan and funding for both clean and sustainable power and water for all the people in this state in any event, SLR, CME/EMP, seismic, terrorist, etc ... Respectfully submitted, Douglas Deitch ED/Founder Monterey Bay Conservancy-a Monterey Bay and California Water Policy Thinktank California Congressional candidate-2020/ Monterey Bay-San Francisco Aptos, California 831.824.6699 " *********************************************************** TRUST ME!!! There it is. Take it. ... (below, please) Let's finally get rational and get it started in 2015 with our water supply here in Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay? ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKqV7DB8Iwg ... tryin' to make it real? (compared to what?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCDMQqDUtv4 ? Who cares about "An Inconvenient Truth"? Let's get specific and think and act local for a change? Dr. Curry, even older than I, of UC already told us in 1999 ... http://www.metroactive.com/papers//09.08.99/water-9936.html and I have often, imho, added ... www.ourinconvenienttruth.com www.ourinconvenienttruth.net www.ourinconvenienttruth.org www.begentlewiththeearth.com www.begentlewiththeearth.org ? So ... to get to the point... I have an 8000-21000 acre !!! real estate acquisition/project/deal here in the Monterey Bay which doubles as a shovel ready but no shovel even required 27,000-63,000 acre feet per year $900,000,000-$2.1 billion Prop 1 and rail bond "OPM" (other people's money) funded ground water and habitat/wetlands/coastal access "Coast Dairies II"/ "Monterey Bay Estuarine National Monument" type conservation, aquifer recharge, and habitat/estuarine resource conservation project. May I describe it to you as I did recently in a comment to "Shaping Ground Water Storage" in the California Water Blog @ http://californiawaterblog.com//shaping-water-storage-in-/ ? "Douglas Deitch says: November 20, 2014 at 11:39 am As we all know, our natural systems such as particularly our ground water aquifers, provide the best opportunities for California water storage. Just eliminating chronic overdraft and water mining of critically important food production related water commons to stop the bleeding and commence living within the sustainable agricultural carrying capacity would be a major victory and is a more than obvious place to start. Monterey Bay Conservancy has been continuously proposing such a water project in the Monterey Bay/Pajaro Valley-PVWMA Region since 1998 ( http://www.pogonip.org/solution.html , http://www.pogonip.org/WaterD/98USGSTechnicalMemorandum.pdf , http://www.begentlewiththeearth.net/ , http://www.begentlewiththeearth.org/ ) to correct the decades long massive ag overdrafting and water mining in this area which has actually increased by over 27% over the last few growing seasons ( http://www.santacruzsentinel.com//pajaro-valley-farmers-pu ,https://www.facebook.com//a.215880731767/948595285162569/ ) for required sprinklers/"artificial rain" in response to this record drought and salt buildup in the top soil which must be leached out by applied water instead of natural but non existent rain (like this: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=645644478817259&set=pb.100001151386333.-2207520000.1520090830.&type=3&theater ), with no production reductions at all. With the passage of the $7.5 billion water bond and reallocated rail bond monies, around $1,000,000,000 (@ $100,000 per acre) is now available to implement a shovel ready (but no shovel even required) immediate and 100% sure fire in perpetuity, at the best location with highest quality water possibly available, uber green (not $$$!), highest and best use, no utilities, permits, tech required 27,000 acre foot per year (16,738.9212329 gallons per minute, every minute, forever !!!) water conservation/recharge etc. project which will terminate all future salt water intrusion in this area, provide sustainable local ground water for all users, protect in perpetuity some of this country’s most rare and critical habitats/estuarine resources, wetlands, and farmlands, improve coastal access, improve and diversify the local economy and protect food production, take the most effective measure possible to proactively respond to future/ and protect our ground water commons from future "SLR" (sea level raise), and publicly acquire and fallow/dry farm, for around $50,000-$100,000 per acre http://www.santacruzsentinel.com//retired-federal-judge-bu the around 8000-9000 plus acres of irrigated farmlands, 25% of Pajaro Valley’s total, on the ocean side of Highway One from La Selva Beach, in Santa Cruz County, to Elkhorn Slough in Monterey County. I submit there is no better utilization of around 5% of this bond’s funding in the State of California and commencing living within our water means here in the Monterey Bay. If you think this approach might be a good one, as well, please repost this and pay a few bucks to "boost" it to others here in the Monterey Bay and California on Facebook who might feel the same. We grow and export way too much of these ... far beyond what our reasonable and sustainable agricultural carrying capacity ... for how many decades, already? https://www.facebook.com//a.39262964075/1612811308740960/ ?
