First Red Flag Warning of the year for our office. Thunderstorms on dry vegetation expected portions of the forecast area (in pink) Friday PM. Be prepared. Av...erage first Red Flag Warning issuance is June 11 in past 10 years. Earliest first Red Flag--May 5. Latest first Red Flag--Aug 1. #orwx #cawx We should note the absolute earliest past 10yrs was technically Jan 23rd 2014. Didn't include in above average statistic because of it being strong outlier and shifting the average a lot, but it's worth mentioning for historical context. If you recall, some area ski resorts never opened that winter because of lack of snow.

A dry cold front will brush by the forecast area today, bringing gusty winds. In addition, afternoon humidity will be low, and vegetation is much drier than normal for mid-April. Therefore, there are some fire weather concerns today, especially east of the Cascades. #ORwx #CAwx

High temperatures this weekend will be in the upper 70s to low 80s but river temperatures will be near 50. Cold water shock and hypothermia catch people off guard every year so please use caution if you plan on spending time in and around rivers this weekend.

Last night we were dispatched to assist with a working structure fire in Lake Shastina. Multiple units were involved and many surrounding departments responded to bring the fire under control. We pray that the families involved are able to recover and have an enjoyable holiday season despite the loss.
