In honor of Native America Heritage month, we recognize the rich diversity of Native American peoples. Since time immemorial, California Native Americans have s...tewarded these lands, building communities, and fostering rich cultures. Today, Native Americans work to confront some of the most pressing challenges for all Americans. This month we encourage the public to learn more about the people who first called this state and nation home, as we pause to reflect on their past, present, and future. In September 2020 legislation was introduced to extend federal recognition to the Mono Lake Kutzadika’a Tribe.
