STOP SEXUAL ASSAULTS I’ve read some of the stories that both men and women have recently shared about being raped, sexually assaulted, or harassed in the workplace, at school, at church, at home, in the military, as minors, and so on. It’s heartbreaking. As a mandated reporter, I’m so glad the U.S. is progressing as a society where we have legislation to set up protections and consequences for criminals who rape, molest children, grope people, make lude comments, and exto...rt. We all must take responsibility to protect our daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, wives, husbands, etc. from sexual predators. Things you can do: 1. BELIEVE THE VICTIM. Children are often ignored when they finally report their abuse. Believe them. 2. Support their effort to REPORT the crime to local police IMMEDIATELY. 3. STOP BLAMING THE RAPE VICTIM. It doesn’t matter what the person wore or did, NO ONE DESERVES TO BE RAPED. 4. NO MEANS NO. 5. STOP MEANS STOP. Period. 6. Be the one who STOPS locker room banter about rape and groping without consent. Survivors of childhood sexual abuse, rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment need to be heard.
