Friends of Molinari Caffe

This will not be a shock to some. But as of Dec 1, Jay will be taking over the shop. I have spent the last year looking for someone that would fit in as well keep the community that I created. The last 4 months I have been working with him and my staff to make an easy transition. Jay has an amazing line up of pastries and other food that will blend in with the coffee and community. He will slowly open later and have a desert bar in the evenings. Brunch will be on Sundays at a... later date when things get into place. The last thing I wanted to do is have someone in there that was going to turn it into a bar or restaurant that opens at 4 pm. We do. It need that downtown. Need more that supports local and the people that work in the area. That being said. I want to thank so many people for the last 10 years. Toni Chiappetta, Alexis Handelman, John John Filmer Weaver with out you this would have never been. To the friends that I have met and the community I built..No words that I can say.... well amazing. The last 10 years I have grown in many ways. But most was seeing everyone (even at 4:30am) and starting his or her day in the best way. I did not do it for the money. We all know there is noting in f/b anymore. I did it one because I was told I could not do anything , the other was the passion. Now I can focus more on my coffee line. Chocolate will be one my website Jan 1. Beer... well you can only get it up here at the moment. Sorry. I will be on board with Jay helping him out time to time. My staff will still be on board to help you every day. Oh... and my moms Deviled Eggs will still be there. Bonus!! I will be down soon Love y’all!! Cheers!!

Well... I don’t like this but it has come again. Every 1/4, COG have risen 20-25% all across the board. Last week I talked to my suppliers on this. One paper good supplier said this is the worst in 50 years. This all comes from wage, gas, and rent increases. I now get charged double for gas and delivery charges from each supplier. Coffee has not gone up for me in 3 years and still has not. It’s all the other products that holds it and what you put in. Most people now are cha...rging $4.30-4.50 per 16oz. (I’m still at $2 for a house 12 and $3 for a 16 which is doable if COG is lower). This will be not the case going forward. Pastries and some food options will be going up some. I, as well others are not making a profit. I have not made a profit in 4 years. We are all breaking even to make things work. Rent will be going up next year and added to that is 3% every year. That will effect prices again. Please do not get upset at employees of the business or the owner or the person we lease from. Talk to a local official or someone at the State. 90% of Napa industry does not make a profit. They like myself do it for the passion of what we created. The other 10%.. they are sponsored. It’s sad to see so many places closing. 2 more in St Helena next year and 3 in Napa as well. Napa (valley) needs to address this. You spend more money on getting people in here when you need to spend it on keeping workers and local/small business going. If you don’t the valley will crash. Maybe stop the property tax on all my equipment, tables etc. for one...you don’t charge that for homeowners that put commercial equipment in their homes. Just say’n. How about mandatory dwelling law that there has to be Studio or one bedroom places for people that work in Napa Valley. They will have to show proof every 3 months to get the break. The people that work 2-3 jobs to live in the valley don’t cook at home so no real need for a full kitchen. I could go on. I’m sure y’all understand. Sorry for the rant Cheers!

Good morning!! Just a heads up. New things are coming in the next few weeks. The deli will be back. Salads are there now We are getting a new grab n go case out front. It will be delivered next week. Then other salads, sandos, and other good stuff will be added. ... Cheers!

Morning!! I am back for a lil over a week for #bottlerock then head home. Some yumm stuff today. Bacon quiche, chocolate croissants, apricot bars, cranberry pop tarts, apple turnovers...but the gf cherry scone and lemon blueberry scones are super. Brought back the super Smokey French for the week. ... Cheers!
