Dear Mod Shop Fans, Upon the recommendation of trusted advisors and after many long conversations, we have made the difficult decision to forgo producing Mod Shop this year. Since the onset of restrictions related to the current public health crisis, we have been actively discussing ways to continue amplifying the work of our local creatives. We worked hard to bring you Couchfest in lieu of Porchfest, and have continued to hope we could design something for Mod Shop that woul...d both highlight our creative cool and keep people safe. We really hoped conditions would have improved over the past 5 months, and that we would be able to present a reduced capacity event that was of the quality we have all worked so hard to achieve. It has become clear to us that conditions will likely not improve enough over the coming months to warrant the risk associated with continuing to produce the event this year. Not only do we care deeply for the safety of our community and vendors, but we also know how much time, money, and energy our vendors pour into preparing for this event months in advance. Mod Shop is one of the largest events in the region celebrating our local makers. And we know it generates revenue for our makers, our downtown restaurants, and other businesses. We encourage you to stay tuned to our social media for updates on ways you can continue to support our makers, our downtown partner restaurants, and businesses as you begin your holiday shopping. For 18 years Lorena Loftis has been the owner of Deva Cafe. She has done more than just cook us our favorite brunch meals. She has cultivated a vibrant community of makers, musicians and artists. Lorena has always been open to allowing creatives to gather in her cozy cafe, always greeted everyone with a hearty hug and beautiful smile. Lorena has invested in the arts community of Modesto and shown us that there is a space for all of us to shine. We want to thank Lorena for all...owing Mod Shop to set up camp each year in her cafe. We truly would not have been able to continue this event without the support of Lorena, Deva Cafe and the generous business owners downtown like her. One of our wonderful makers had all of her remaining items from Mod Shop stolen from her driveway in Modesto. As we know, our makers work for weeks and weeks to prep for their events and she has another one coming up soon.
