Explore the Bay this fall when you take a three-day ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising course. During the course, you'll sharpen all of your sailing skills, while gaining a deeper understanding of coastal navigation and practicing close quarters maneuvering aboard one of our platinum fleet yachts. After the course you will be Platinum Fleet certified and preped for ASA 114. The 104 will also complete your prerequisites for an IPC (International Proficiency Certificate) that will allow you to charter globally. If you want to take your sailing skills to the next level, contact the office to enroll in a Bareboat Cruising Course starting on 10/23 or 11/13.

Captain Kira skippered the Farallon Islands expeditions last weekend. The first attempt on Saturday was unsuccessful due to sea state and big winds but resulted in a sleigh ride back as the crew surfed the waves home and under the Golden Gate Bridge. On Sunday there was little wind but the crew had a successful rounding of the Devil’s Teeth complete with big swell and a few humpbacks. If you are looking to amp up your weekend and get a glimpse of Northern California’s mysterious islands, sign up for our next Farallon Island's trip on October 17. Book your spot online or call the office to sign up.

We like our skies white with fog, not heavy with smoke. We're happy to say that we reopened yesterday after 6 days of smoke and unhealthy air quality had us cancel several courses and all charters. We're doing our best to get everyone back on the water as soon as possible and we're looking forward to a busy weekend of courses and .

We're closed for today and tomorrow. The wind forecast was promising for Sunday evening and while we hoped to get courses, lessons, and charters out on the water this AM, the air quality was too poor to allow anyone out or to keep our fleet staff working on the docks. We will be reassessing AQI and our plan of action on Wednesday before opening. Please message us here or email us if you have questions. As of now, weekend courses are set to take place - we'll keep you posted if anything changes.

Like much of the Bay Area, this was the scene at Marina Plaza Harbor on Wednesday. We were in disbelief. Air quality was decent so flashlights were brought out to review course content before heading down to the trainer boats and our ASA 103 students practiced night sailing. Modern sailors and employees are known for being a hardy bunch - but not foolhardy nor reckless! So, on Thursday courses had classroom sessions only while all bareboat chartering was canceled. Today we sh...ut our doors and our crew headed home to seek clean air indoors. We are monitoring the Air Quality Index via PurpleAir and will make decisions about courses, clinics, club sails, and charters on a day to day basis. If you have questions, please reach out at [email protected] and we'll be sure to reply as soon as we can. ~~~~ Our hearts go out to all of those affected by the fires raging on the West Coast. Big thanks to the firefighters and volunteers working around the clock to get the fires contained. See more
