The Myers Law Group, APC, is happy to announce our most recent win at the Court of Appeals, in the whistleblower case Hawkins/Kim v. City of Los Angeles. After more than three years since our victory in the trial court, the Court of Appeals has affirmed the underlying award to the clients and awarded them fees and costs. It is the first Court of Appeal's decision to find that individuals, who brought claims under Labor Code 1102.5, are entitled to attorney's fees under PAGA and 1021.5. With all this being said, we continue to mourn that passing of one of our clients, Nick Kim, who passed away during the litigation.

The Myers Law Group. APC, mourns the loss of client Nick Kim. Here is a picture of Mr. Myers and Mr. Kim after a jury returned a verdict in his favor. Mr. Kim was a true fighter who was terminated after blowing the whistle on corruption at the City of Los Angeles. He will be missed.

Congrats to Ann Hendrix, Chair of the Civil Litigation Division, and her staff' as they get another win at the Court of Appeals. The Court of Appeals affirmed the trial court's order denying arbitration after the employer gave conflicting declarations as to whether Ann's client signed the agreement in the first place.

The Myers Law Group, APC mourns the loss of John Huvler. Mr. Huvler was a member of Local 50's Executive Board and Negiotiating Team at Disneyland. A truly kind, funny and dedicated individual.

The Myers Law Group wants to take a minute to recognize Los Arroyos Mexican Resturant for providing free meals to fire fighters in Santa Barbara and Camarillo/Ventura. With locations from Camarillo to Goleta, they have stepped up.

The Myers Law Group had it's first ever bring a child (we had three nieces) to work day. Started off with a great breakfast at the office (chorizo, eggs, potatoes, tortillas), and then a visit with Judge Pacheco in San Bernardino who told us about his incredible journey to the bench, and then to lunch at Dave & Busters. When you are kid, you think your parents don't do anything for you. As a parent, you realize everything you do is for your kid. Special thanks to Mike Mitchell for his help with the tortillas.

The Myers Law Group, APC secured not only this $550,000 back pay award but also an additional $600,000 settlement for emotional distress on Mr. Flory's behalf.

Doug Smith and David Myers secure a nearly $1,500,000 judgement against the City of Los Angeles after representing two traffic hearing officers who were terminated after complaining about corruption in the City of Los Angeles. Mr. Myers and his clients are interviewed after the verdict.
