Hello MJUSD Community! As our school year comes to a close, and we look back on this year, we remain conscious of all the challenges, last minute pivots, and the ongoing evolution (still evolving) of the meal service model that we have come to know. With all we have endured, we have many to thank for the past year. Our community support has been unwavering. Picking up meals curbside, bus stops, and community locations all the while remaining positive, our families have been p...atient and kind as we navigated the initial learning curve of the mobile meal service. With the help of our incredible transportation department we set up meal serving pop-ups at apartment complexes, shopping centers, churches, and parks to allow our staff to distribute meals, and you were there ready and excited to receive meals every time. Our local farms were there for us, through the normal changing of the seasons and challenges they endure each year. This was further compacted by the additional struggles that plagued so many local businesses during this time. Yet they persevered and continued to provide us with so much fresh and delicious produce that we are still calculating those totals (will come in a future post). Our local partners that never missed a beat providing fresh bakery products, Ice cold milk, food products, packaging supplies and not to mention a consistent supply of paper bags that housed all our meals. And of course our school nutrition professionals that jumped into action on day one. They rolled carts, carriers, insulated storage containers, and rolling racks full of food out to the curb and onto buses to provide hot and cold meals to hungry students and children of the community. Persevering through the heat of the summer to the coldest winds during the winter, we saw rain and (at some schools) even snow! All the while dutifully making sure they were ready with meals on each and every day of service. It’s a humbling experience to see what the school nutrition industry was able to accomplish through all of these uncertain times this year. And while we always acknowledge all school Nutrition Service Departments across the country for their awesomeness, today we acknowledge our own MJUSD Nutrition Services achievement. From the beginning of the pandemic to today as we post this, our team have served over 2.4 million meals! To mark this occasion, our staff all wore special shirts today. Hello MJUSD Community, Hope you had a great week! As we ride off into the sunset of Friday we wish you a fabulous three day weekend full of fun activities and relaxation. Hello Yuba Gardens Community, As part of a road improvement on 11th avenue (installing sidewalks), beginning today the road will be closed to through traffic for the next couple of weeks. Because of this we will be moving our curbside meal service location. Please see the attached map for where the new serving location will be during meal service. Everything else will be the same we will just be serving in the curve near the front of the gym for the remainder of the school year. Thanks for all your support and have a great day!

Our school nutrition professionals have put in so much effort as we totally had to upend our regular operations. As you know, Nutrition Services staff across the country have worked tirelessly this past year to keep our young people fed, whether on school campuses, remotely or curbside. ... On Friday May 7th please join us in celebrating not only our own MJUSD Nutrition Services team of SCHOOL LUNCH (SUPER) HEROES but School Lunch Heroes everywhere by showing some spirit and wearing your favorite superhero gear. This can be a shirt, socks, hat or even a cape. Hello MJUSD Community! As the week comes to a close, we want to take a moment and express our thanks to all of...YOU! While our Nutrition Services staff’s unwavering commitment to serving nutritious meals to your kids has been incredible, a giant credit must also go out to our fabulous MJUSD Community. While coming out each day to pick up meals for your children may seem a simple task for some folks, it isn’t for all. Many families are overcoming transportation ch...allenges, work schedule conflicts, childcare challenges and more in an effort make it out to our serving sites daily, all to provide the children with meals. Parents/Grandparents/Caregivers, all the family, friends and community members that continue to lend support to both one another and to MJUSD Nutrition Services, For all this and moreTHANK YOU! An update for meal service, From 12/21-1/4 MJUSD Nutrition Services will not be serving meals. This will allow our team to take the holiday break. Fear not, we will be back serving meals on January 5, 2021 Although we aren't providing meals, the need still exists. Santa Claus is coming to the Yuba County Library, and bringing some friends in a Drive-Thru event! Join us as you drive through the library parking lot and wave... to Santa Claus and his masked friends. Hello MJUSD Community!! With Monday showing NO signs of turning into Friday we want to take an opportunity to let you know we are still out serving meals each day this week. With the uncertainty of many things right now, take comfort in the fact that we have many procedures in place to ensure safe food handling and meal production. Hello MJUSD Community! It's Thursday and what's a better way to ease into the end of the week than grabbing a bowl of our homemade Mac and cheese...did you say where's the BBQ Chicken? Well we have that also, right on top of the Mac and cheese ! We also paired it with fresh made coleslaw and an aloha roll.....Wow, It's like a backyard BBQ feast to go. So come on down to any of our serving sites, grab a meal and say hi to our fabulous group of lunch heroes. Have a great day!
