Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. -Psalm 143:8

We wanted to share our favorite story of the week. Mrs. Lewis from Winston Churchill Middle School comes to our Outdoor Education program. She and her daughter, Everly, have been coming to Mission Springs with the school every year since Everly was 2. Since they couldn't come with the school this year (they would have been here this week), they decided to make a weekend trip to Mission Springs and relive some of the traditions that their family does with MSOE @missionspringso...e. We thought this was such a good idea, we (and Mrs. Lewis) wanted to encourage other families to make the trip too! The redwoods are still here, the banana slugs are still making slime trails through the forest, and there are still beautiful eco-systems for you to explore! Mrs. Lewis and her family say, "Mission Springs is the best vacation we have every year!" Book a stay here! Check the link in our bio.

I have walked by this flag pole many times as a staff member but today was the first day that I realized that this flag pole is wooden. This may not be surprising or even interesting to many of you but it made me pause. I thought about the person who went into the forest looking for the tallest, skinniest, and straightest redwood tree that could be found. They took it down with care, removing the small offshoots, letting it dry, cleaning off the bark, sanding it down, pai...nting it, and ultimately placing it in its new home where it has stood as a sentry, watching over the grounds and all the people (and animals) that have visited the Mission Springs lawn over the years, every family camp, every movie on the lawn, every 4th of July Carnival... The story is probably not as romantic as that, but it feels like there is a lesson in there, if only it is that no matter how long you have known a place there is always something new to discover.
