There’s no secret to how we successfully reach 4,800 youth and their families each year. The Parent Parent Program is largely responsible for that and it takes a lot of hard work. Our Promotoras and Family Engagement Coordinators work on-site at 11 of our schools to nurture communities of engaged, educated, and empowered parents. They show other families, If I can do this, so can you!

Meet our Family Engagement team! Our Parent Partner Program ensures that Latinx and Black families in San Francisco can be effective academic partners and advocates for their children on the path to college. Throughout the shelter-in-place they've worked to provide culturally relevant tools and resources through peer-led virtual workshops, supporting our students and their families at school and in their homes.

Irina worked with our College and Career Center to prepare for her upcoming first year at Sonoma State University, surmounting challenges and financial divides that marginalized students of color know all too well. She believes that all her experiences with people from different backgrounds have given her... the ability to connect, communicate, and relate to future patients and make a difference in someone’s life. Students at Bryant Elementary School received two big surprises at the start of the school year: new backpacks, donated by VIVE Church, and computers for remote learning! Thank you to VIVE Church for their generous donation of 150 backpacks as part of a giveaway to San Francisco youth. You can’t see the smiles under the masks, but they’re there! We’ve expanded our services during shelter-in-place to not only blend the school day with after school enrichment, but also bring classrooms into the home. In collaboration with community partners, we’ve been coordinating technology distribution at Mission Graduates school sites to ensure that students have the tools and resources to succeed with remote education.
