Mission City Church 29.01.2021

This Sunday is Valentine's Day! A day where we remember St. Valentine and his example of Christlike love. We would love to have you join us either in person or online at 10AM as we worship the Lord together and are reminded of the importance of keeping the love of God central in our lives. In particular, we will be diving into the "love letters" of the beloved disciple, John.

Psalm 118:24; This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Whe life gets difficult, nothing changes our perspective like praise. Break out your favorite praise song, and worship the Lord!

Although it may seem like problems last forever, they don't. However, the Word of God will last forever and you can trust it and lean on it. When problems attempt to invade your life, stand on Romans 8:28. It very well may be the most encompassing promise, in all of the Bible. Can somebody type, AMEN!

THE FALL AND RISE OF KING NEBUCHADNEZZAR Powered by Restream https://restream.io/ Join us as we continue our study of the book of Daniel. We will be exploring the story of the fall and rise of King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4. God is the King of kings who humbles the mighty. He is the Lord of lords who can cause even the most wicked rulers in the world to begin to give him praise. If God is able do this, how much more will he not bring transformation to his humble sons and daughters?

A ‘PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP’ WITH THE LORD (PART 5) Powered by Restream https://restream.io/ Join us as we worship the Lord! We have been reveling what it means personal relationship with God by investigating the story of Moses and the burning bush! Last Sunday we saw how after Moses drew near to the Self-Sustaining Divine Fire burning in the bush, he was given a divine assignment. But he still had uncertainty in that moment. God needed to reveal ever deeper aspects of who He was to Moses. He is the GREAT I AM. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He is Yahweh. How does this revelation of God’s name change us and help us walk in deeper relation with Him? Join us!

KINGDOM CONQUESTWITNESSES FOR CHRIST Powered by Restream https://restream.io/ In Matthew 10 when Jesus sends out His disciples to witness, He gives them a heads up of what to expect, as well as many witnessing principles. We are to depend on the indwelling Spirit, understand that God’s Family is primary, flee persecution, prepare to be treated like Jesus, and take up our cross and follow Him. Join us as we worship the Lord and digest His Word!

JOIN US FOR WORSHIP TOMORROW AT 10AM For those attending service in person, you will be directed to enter our sanctuary either through the courtyard on Glenoaks, or through the entrance on Maclay. I look forward to worshipping the Lord with everyone! We will be delving into Matthew 10 again. Kingdom citizens have an assignment from King Jesus! Though there are obstacles as we witness, we need not fear. We can always be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Our witness includes all of life, including how we are processing this turbulent voting season. Ultimately, no matter what happens in our world, or in the coming election, Jesus is still King! And we are still called to bear witness to His kingdom.

JESUS AS BRINGER OF LIGHT AND JUDGMENT Powered by Restream https://restream.io/ One of the major themes in the Gospel of John is light and darkness. Jesus is the Light of the world who shines in the darkness while the darkness does not overcome it. As the Light of God he declares, I came into this world for judgment, in order that those who do not see will see and those who do see will become blind (John 9:39). Part of this judgment on the religious leaders who see has to do with the destruction of Jerusalem that Jesus prophesied would happen in 70AD. What is referred to as "The End of the Age. Join us as we unpack this powerful truth and see how it ties into end times teaching!

MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDY - TONIGHT AT 7PM The Gospel of John is a fitting study to end our survey of the Old Testament. One of the major themes of John is light and darkness. Jesus is the light of the world who shines in the darkness that does not overcome it. As the Light of God he declares, I came into this world for judgment, in order that those who do not see will see and those who do see will become blind (John 9:39). Part of this judgment on the religious leaders who see has to do with the destruction of Jerusalem that Jesus prophesied would happen in 70AD. Join tonight at 7PM as we discover how Jesus transitions the people of God from the old to the new, and what it means to be the new covenant people of God!

WISE AS SERPENTS & HARMLESS AS DOVES Powered by Restream https://restream.io/ Jesus gave a very important image for His twelve disciples to consider before He sent them out to evangelize about the kingdom. He said, Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16). Most translations actually say be shrewd as serpents. Most Christians don’t think of that as an important evangelistic quality, but it is! Join us as we learn what it means to follow Jesus’ instruction here as we bear witness to this world, especially in this politically charged season.

WISE AS SERPENTS AND HARMLESS AS DOVES Join us tomorrow at 10AM as we gather to worship the Lord. We all need to continually fix our eyes on Jesusthe Author and Perfecter of our faith! In that place there is joy unspeakable and peace unsurpassable. We will be exploring a phrase from Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew, Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matt. 10:16). Having this mentality is the duty of every kingdom citizen as we seek to witness to the world around us!

We blessed the ladies in the Sequioa Lodge at Hope Gardens yesterday, with a copy of BeLoved, by Keith and Joshua Hershey. Pray with us that they are embraced by The Fathers love and grace

Are you or a loved one needing peace? Here is a short prayer to help you receive peace from the Father. Lord, You promise never to leave me alone or abandon me in my time of need. Even when I can’t feel Your presence, I know you are near. Your promises are true. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Lord, teach my heart to rest in Your presence and not to be afraid or anxious. I will trust in You. (Deuteronomy 31:6; Hebrews 13:5)

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are to be salt and light in our communities. We pray every Monday night. Early on, when we first started, the Lord spoke a word that said Mission City Church is to be a center of influence to the leadership of the city of San Fernando. This includes police, city council, fire departments, schools and industry. Listed below is a number of schools we have prayed for. In addition, the principle is receiving a letter of support, letting them know ...we are praying for them. Because these people are influencing our children, we need to pray for them. Please do so by name.: * Gridley Elementary School; Principal Jacqueline Roman * Harding Elementary School: Principal Laura Fuentes * Herrick Elementary School: Principal Rosalinda Elmore * Hubbard Street Elementary School: Principal Joseph Casas * Morningingside Elementary School: Principal Lowell Bernstein * O'Melveney Street Elementary School: Principal Henry Vidrio * Osceola Street Elementary School: Joe Velasquez * San Fernando Elementary School: Mr. Roman * San Fernando Middle School: Karen Fattal * Sylmar Elementary School: Principal Juliet Miranda Prayer is one of the most essential functions of the Church. Thank you for praying. Blessings! Mike Martin

JESUS IS GREATERA STUDY OF HEBREWS Powered by Restream https://restream.io/ We have reached the point in our year long bible study where we begin to see how the New Testament speaks about Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old. This evening we will take a journey through Hebrews. A book written primarily to Jews, and so one that brings out many rich themes from the Old Testament and relates them to who Jesus is and what He has done! Jesus is greater than the angels, Moses, Joshua, Aaron, the old covenant, the sacrifices, Mount Sinai, and the blood of Abel. Jesus is GREATER than everything! And when that truth is at the center of our lives we come fully alive! Join us!

Mission City Church 30.07.2020

Join us for our Midweek Bible Study tonight at 7PM. Jesus is the fulfillment of everything we have been learning about in the Old Testament this year. Not only is He the fulfillment, but He is even GREATER!
