Seats are still available in SOCO 223: Globalization & Social Change this Fall 2018! Learn how our world is both smaller and bigger than ever before! Anyone interested in social or behavioral sciences; law; politics; business; teaching; or non-profits, especially those dealing with human rights issues, political advocacy, and international affairs, (and anyone who lives on planet Earth!) would benefit from this course! More than ever, an international focus is helpful in the ...job field and in being an informed community member. Even if we never left San Diego, we have been affected by globalization - we will explore how food, fashion, health, family, social movements, and more are globalized. For example, over 97% of clothing and shoes sold in the U.S. are now made overseas. We will examine why that is, whether it is good or bad, and how people are affected by it across the globe. Projects include making a zine (a booklet featuring writing and images) about the globalization of a food you love and completing a service-learning assignment on a topic of your choice - no exams! No prerequisites are required! #MiramarSOCO223 #MiramarSociology See more
