We love this special time to celebrate our students and get them supercharged for the year. Navigating this uncharted world of virtual learning has been tough. We salute everyone who has been involved in our students’ education, whether you signed up for it or not. You are doing far better than you think. Your efforts reinforce the value of perseverance, and, trust us, children see and adopt it. Thank you for being open to change, breaking boundaries, and showing our rising stars the sky’s the limit!

In fact homeschoolers often know how to interact with a much wider mix of people than their traditional school counterparts. Here’s another truth: You do NOT have to give up that dynamic classroom experience for more personalized learning. With homeschooling, you can still have it all But how? Pods are your answer. At MiraculousMinds, we offer learning pods (sometimes called micro-classrooms) that provide students with constant opportunities to:... connect with other homeschoolers of varying ages and skill levels; apply teamwork and problem solving skills; and build strong relationships with teachers-turned-allies. Our pods are highly sought-after because they create an environment that truly encourages HAPPY, engaging learning And with a 1-to-4 teacher-to-student ratio, meeting students’ individual needs will never fall by the wayside. To discuss how we can get involved in your child’s success, get in touch with us today!

Fun, simple, AND no materials required! Simon Says is such an easy but effective way to engage your child while strengthening their auditory processing skills, including: Auditory memory. If your child is struggling, drop Simon says and make it a game of following simple, silly directions. Ex: Say 'ribbit'! ... Sequencing. Gradually bump up the difficulty level with transition words. Ex: Simon says...first look down, then clap twice, and finally, rub your belly. For an extra challenge throw in conjunctions, e.g., before, after, while, once, as, etc. Attention. Hold on to your next command until your child shows that they’re ready. They should be in your proximity, physically facing you and establishing eye contact. Don’t forget to mix things up! Have your child call out instructions. Let us know if you were caught doing something that Simon didn’t say

APD looks different in every child. Not all of these interventions will be appropriate for everyone. In fact, some that are beneficial for many children may actually set back others. Obtaining an accurate diagnosis by an audiologist and understanding the specific deficit(s) your child experiences are essential in creating the most effective, customized treatment program. If you haven’t already, swing over ...Continue reading

People with APD auditory processing disorder may feel like the world is garbled. Everything sounds distorted. Following a conversation feels as though they’re listening to someone over the phone with tons of interfering noise and the signal cutting in and out There are numerous other ways APD might be affecting your child. Understanding what your child experiences and getting an accurate, careful diagnosis from an audiologist are the most important steps in getting your child the support they need and the success they crave

Huh? What did you say? APD auditory processing disorder refers to an impairment in the brain’s ability to filter, interpret, and retain auditory information. Individuals with APD hear just fine. The problem lies in making sense of what they hear. This simulation (via YouTube: Melanie DesRoches) demonstrates how background noise can take the forefront of the mind of someone with APD. It’s an everyday battle for them to tune into the information they need t...o succeed and meet expectations. But there’s good news! The neural pathways associated with auditory processing continue to mature until adolescence, so APD is very responsive to early intervention Through educational therapy, your child will gain access to strategies that will boost their learning and confidence.

? Does it seem like everything you say to your child goes in one ear and out the other? Is ? or ? always the first response you get? Or perhaps your child heard you, but what they say or do after doesn’t quite make sense? Read on to learn if APD is what’s affecting your child. We want to pause here with a word of caution. Auditory processing disorder (APD) is controversial. Some experts question if it’...Continue reading
