When a majority of people think of singing, they see it as a talent that some people have and others don't. While the range of ability does vary from person to person, there are mental and physical health benefits for all. Choirs are a great outlet for those looking to get involved in this great activity, and it's up to chorus members and directors to publicize the amazing health advantages that come along with singing with other people a few times a week or month. What scien...ce says A recent study by the University of Gothenburg in Sweden found that as singers harmonize, their heartbeats synchronize, eventually relaxing the entire room of musicians. The effect is actually more calming than practicing yoga, according to The Telegraph. Performing various singing, humming and chanting exercises has a positive effect on the heart and can help reduce the chances of heart disease. This is an incredible find, and it shows that there is a strong link between the actions of singers and the rest of a person's body. Singing and other vocal activities control breathing and help with the intake of oxygen for the brain. Dr. Björn Vickhoff of the University of Gothenburg says controlled breathing is a form of relaxation and makes for a happy heart. Group benefits all around This study shows that not only does singing help an individual, but harmonizing together with a choral group can affect the health of everyone involved. Live Science also points out that singing stimulates neural activity and muscle movements all throughout the body. The mental effects are apparent as well. As singers control their breathing, their heart beats slow and they become relaxed. Vocal exercises can therefore be a great way to de-stress, release any tension in your body and improve mind flow. A more calm and collected person is able to go about his or her day in a better frame of mind because of the effects of singing. Wouldn't you say that's pretty amazing? Connecting with others over the benefits of singing Choir members have the opportunity to perform wonderful music, grow together as a tight-knit group and, apparently, reap the benefits of natural relaxation methods from rehearsals, concerts or even singing in the shower. Use this as a way of getting more people involved and engaged in the singing culture. There is so much to offer, and letting others know the natural healing capabilities of singing can win over lifelong fans of your music.

Breathing is an integral part of singing. Below is a beginning breathing exercise for beginners: The following exercise may make you feel tired at first, do keep at it as you will begin to notice that it takes less effort to breath, less energy is used when breathing plus it helps you learn to co-ordinate the diaphragm and abdominal muscles when breathing. To find out if you are breathing correctly, place a hand on your belly button. This area should expand first when you b...reathe in and then spread upwards until your chest is expanded (don't lift the shoulders or push the stomach out). If you feel you are not breathing properly, practice the following exercise. Lay flat on your back. Place your hands on your waist, fingers pointing towards your belly button. Focus on filling up your stomach from the bottom to the top taking a slow deep breath. (The aim is not to fill yourself to bursting but to inhale enough air so that you can feel the difference between a shallow breath taken when breathing from the chest). You should feel your stomach rise and your hands being raised gently up and outward until you feel your chest expanding. The expansion is not only at the front of the body but also to the sides and back as well. Breath out slowly to a count of 5 Repeat the exercise 10 times Practice daily before you rise in the morning and prior to sleeping at night for 5 - 10 minutes gradually increasing this to 3 or 4 times a day. #singing #voicelessons #singinglessons #breathingexercises

8 Ways to Sing Better Now 1. Open your mouth when you’re singing! Singers who keep their mouths mostly closed are likely tense in the tongue and are far from achieving maximum quality of tone. I like the two finger rule. If you can fit two fingers between your teeth while singing (esp on open vowels like ah and oh), then you’re good. If not, open your mouth more. 2. Relax the tongue. After years of giving voice lessons, I’m convinced that 65% 85% of all vocal prob...Continue reading

Is this a good description of Temecula? Temecula is a city located in the southwestern part of Riverside County, California. Situated near the junction of Interstates I-15 and I-215, and also serviced by California State Highway 79, Temecula lies about 86 miles southeast of Los Angeles and 60 miles north of San Diego. It is bordered by its neighboring city of Murrieta on the northwest. The name Temecula comes from an alternative spelling of the Luiseño Indian word "Temecunga"..., roughly translated to mean "Where the sun breaks through the mist". Early settlement in the area was boosted by the 1859 establishment of the first inland Southern California post office in Temecula, to which stagecoach deliveries were regular occurrences. Rail service arrived in the late 19th century, and by the turn of the century Temecula had gained prominence as a shipping point for grain and cattle. The community's growth continued through the 20th century, with dramatic changes taking place in the 1970s with the onset of large-scale subdivision and development of real estate. In 1989, Temecula became incorporated as a city. Temecula today is the site of one of California's oldest wineries, and the Temecula Valley serves as one of the state's relatively small but significant wine producing regions. See more

Voice teachers without experience will do and say anything to encourage you to take lessons so they can rip you off. Additionally, they can actually do harm by straining your vocal chords. Doing so could ruin your voice for the rest of your life. Great teachers are plentiful in big cities like LA, Chicago, and New York. Unfortunately, right here in Temecula and the vicinity they are very, very rare. - See more at: www.miraclevoicelessons.com #voicelessons #singinglessons #opera #temecula #murrieta
